Ah. I found this table on wikipedia. It says R is good for 106MPH and Z is good for over 149MPH. So if one tyre is R then it makes sense that tyre can do 106, but if the other tyre is ZR... wtf does that mean??
Edit: Oh!! Pirelli have a table on their own website that explains the ratings: So the "110/70 R 17 M/C 54H TL" tyre should be fine. It has a speed rating of up to 105MPH. That's fine for the ninjette. The ZR tyre must be for much faster bikes. |

Well, if you have the money now (not sure if they will ship to you, cause they won't to me) motorcycle-superstore.com has them on sale. With the two in the cart I would save $118.

That's a shame for both of us. I just checked the site and they don't do international shipping. I should keep my eye out for an offer this spring, rather than get them at full price in the summer.

Here's my rear tire after a mild track day:
IMG_20120325_133527.jpg So they don't look abnormal. I think @NDspd you might try messing with your tire pressures a bit and see if that helps. I think I was running stock pressures today. Also these tires are awesome on the track. I didn't want to push too hard since they are new but they grip so well. I could brake harder, turn faster, and get back on the power without worry. Even when I botched up downshifts the rear didn't get to wiggly. I even dragged knee for a good 15-20ft on a corner when I normally only touch down for maybe 10 on this long sweeper corner. I had to cut the day short since my friend went down so I helped him out; I never expected to see him to go down.

@00NissanNinja Yeah I've pushed my tires hard before on an abandoned track before.
So here's an update y'all: I took my 250 for a good long ride on the highway, in the country and the city. I eventually ended at the abandoned track, jumped up really quick and felt the tire for any weird temps. They both were relatively warm and sticky, but I didn't see any of the weird signs of wear at all. So who knows, maybe it was the combination of riding at 80 mph for 160 miles, while occasionally getting a little rain. Or the fact it was a nearly straight highway, it only heated a tiny section of the tire, causing some kind of cold ripping when I jumped into town. The heated rubber would accumulate at the center since where there is more centrifugal force, and once I slowed down the soft rubber that wore off over the 160 miles gummed up after cooling......ok enough of my brainstorming session. I'm still gonna call pirelli. |

There mounted and on the bike. And they look good. Now I just have to wait for the north east weather to warm up some

I am finally having them mounted on April 2 now that the dealer is off winter hours. Weather forecast is high of 64 with few showers and 30mph winds.
Still will be a good day to ride. |

Anybody have the 150/60/17 in the rear? I know some companies make their tires different in size i was wondering if this size would be alright?

I have the Rosso I in that size, not sure about the Rosso II tho, but i guess they would be fine. But the Rosso II come in 140/70, which is probably better handling wise

Also as far as the rear did you have the pinched sidewall causing it to wear funny? How many miles have you put on your rosso I? |

I have the 120/60 front. The sidewall is not much pinched. I have about 5k km on them so far, and no signs of funny wear. I did notice a slight difference in the way the bike leans over. So for my next set, i will probably go with the 110/70 and 140/70 now that it's available. The Rosso I's were only available in 120/60 and 150/60 as the smallest size, so that's why i went with them, not for the looks

I mounted them at the track, set them on the warmers for about a half hour, and was dragging knee first lap out. Don't need to worry about scrubbing in on modern tires anymore if you've got them up to temp

I've put about 200 miles on the Rosso II's so far. OMG... That's really all I can say. It's like a completely different bike. Turns in better, grips better. More confidence. Wish I would have switched sooner. I will see how many miles I get out of them, but if I can get at least 3k, these will be the only tires that will be going on my bike from now on.

@BlackNinja8
I noticed a difference right away. I forgot to mention the braking feels much better too. More controlled, shorter stopping distances. I went easy for about 50 miles to "scrub in" the tires but I feel very confident on them now. I'm very happy with my purchase. I ride aggressively on the street. If you ride tame or just piddle around I'm not sure they are the best tire. They do make it feel more... I don't want to say squirrely, but the bike does want to turn in much easier. |

@TnNinjaGirl - Thanks thats good info. I do ride aggresively at times, but most of the time I am commuting and cruising. Though my commute is more of a Saturday morning ride than a typical commute - 10 minutes Interstate 30 minutes windy back country roads.

With the 3,000 miles I've put on the DRII's I still have quite a bit of life left I'm thinking at least 6,000 miles are left in them.
I also can't say enough on their performance...just wow... |

Squirrely just means a little nervous or easily influenced by the pavement at speed. Think 90's honda civic, or golf cart, just less extreme
