lol the old, fox news is bias bit eh?
youve linked mostly bloggers and known leftist news sources Im confused as to why I should consider your sources reliable and unbiased... I enjoy your "I use big words look them up" tactics as well. I wasn't a poli sci major or an english major but I've graduated from a 4 year university its unfortunate I have to bring that up to legitimize myself. I dont have any doubts about lobbyists influence on govt. nor do I disagree with the govt. being corrupted. Not sure if you read my post at this point because my "logic" talk was about protesting wallstreet (or what it represents to them) yet ignoring the fact that it was the govt. who bailed them out. If you want change lets change whos been elected. this is where my logic talk comes from. Im starting to get a little confused as to if you are just a socialist/anticapitalist or you believe the conspiracy theories Jones and others talk about. I would respect the latter more as I am torn with that type of talk and I can almost buy into it. bottom line is a socialist society would not grow or prosper, show me all the charts and graphs you want, data is easily twisted to show whatever you want. But history has proved time and time again its not a sustainable form of economic structure. Im not saying pure capitalism is either though. So Im all ears then (or all eyes) how do YOU think that this should be taken care of? This evil 1% that is corrupting the govt. (which we have by poor voting allowed to be corrupted) What should we do then? Socialism "redistribute the wealth"? Note* at work cant watch video yet.

If the 99% don't like it here maybe they should go and live in socialist/communist havens like North Korea, Cuba or Venezuela.

You have to be literally living under a rock if you think Fox news is not biased, I'm sorry. Hell, it's been mentioned that all major media outlets are biased like MSNBC and CNN. If I want economic news, I look for famed economist blogs with their objective analysis of the current data. Right now, consensus is low aggregate demand, so you have to consider why. I also graduated from a public 4 year university as well. I have a great median income job somewhat underpaid now but I value the benefits more than the pay. I work for a telecom corporation so I can see these "issues" first hand. Fallacies were covered in high school English, junior year from what I remember. Also you should have said I misspelled anecdotal. You know that the bailout was a necessary evil because it really would have screwed our economy and we would be worse off that where we are now. The problem that OWS has issue with is why hasnt there been any action to get rid of "too big to fail" or prosecute anyone, for example the SnL debacle. It's harder to elect the morally ethically person into congress when special interests donates big money to their favorite person at the time to get elected. Not to mention you have to fight against your fellow Americans to understand the implications of future public policy. But even you get someone like Obama in office who was suppose to be a "game changer" but look where that went. I'm not talking about a pure socialist society, I'm talking about a more social democratic one like Sweden. I'm not talking about an absolute distribution but a more fair and balanced one. What is fair and balanced is the kicker. First step is to bring back campaign finance reform. What comes after mirrors a little of what Tabbi and OWS mentions but some exceptions. Now it's time to go play BF3, long day. |

Sweden? Do you know why Sweden has stayed afloat through the crisis? It is because they have cut taxes significantly since 2006. Have put in place tight fiscal policy. They are moving to the right. The Social Democrats have lost a lot of power. It is the private sector in Sweden that is fueling their economy. They have repealed wealth taxes and inheritance taxes and their Prime Minister has said "Work should pay better than benefits" |

So you're saying that FOX didn't organize TEA Party 'rallies' with a whopping dozen or so participants? The 54% or whatever it is called is really ingenious. Their argument is what? All of these people at the protests are lazy and they can get a job if they just go out and look for one? Wow, why didn't we think of this before, I think you've solved our country's unemployment problem. By the way, I have a high paying job, I do work hard and I live very comfortably. I'm not looking for a handout. I'm looking for the middle class of this country to be saved. Look at our wealth distribution today, and then look at what it was ten years ago. The two top republican candidates are proposing dramatic tax reductions on the wealthiest Americans. Doubling down on the already disproven trickle down theory. Wow, it's almost as if they don't believe in proven facts like evolution... Oh wait |

I have been following the movement fairly closely for a while. I have never heard of Acorn being involved in any way.
Notice how you haven't challenged one of my arguments but just focusing on an obvious smear tactic by FOX news executives. Are you thinking for yourself or does Roger Ailes have a bigger impact on your ideas than you realize? Do you honestly not think that the management at FOX news is deliberately trying to smear and discredit the tens of thousands of Americans who are protesting around the country? By the way, it is now a global movement. Yes, all of this is of course the work of a long defunct organization, and it immediately renders the basic right of free Americans to protest their government and all of their arguments invalid. Feel free to go back to watching FOX news so that you can get more 'talking points'. |

I'm sorry, but you are just being delusional here. You keep telling people to look at your arguments, and look for the facts in them, and not to dispute them because they are leftist. Yet you fail to do the same. You then throw in little quips about massacre not pointing out that you apparently misspelled anecdotal. Are we having a debate or grading a high school paper? Perhaps you should try some of your own advice. Massacre and ky and others have pointed out that the system is screwed up. I agree, the system is f***ed. But simply saying that socialism will fix everything is wrong. Corporations are taking advantage of consumers because consumers let them. Stop being damn sheep and tell them to piss off. You see, the one thing you fail to realize is this: Someone will claim ownership of everything on this planet if given the chance. The question is, do you want the corrupt government who answers to no one to have that control, or do you want the corporations who only have as much power as we give them to have it? Like I stated previously, all we really NEED to live is food every few days, some clean water daily, and a shelter to sleep safely and give us protection from the elements. EVERYTHING else is icing. You want to effect real change, then vote for politicians who aren't beholden to the corporations. Vote with your dollars by taking them to businesses who cater to you, not those that have slick advertising and having you believe you need that overpriced $500 smartphone and its $100 monthly service. Cancel the cable when they raise your bill. Corporations take advantage of people by making them think they need this $h17 when they don't. And like massacre said, the government stepping in to "bail out" these companies who were "too big" to fail is a large part of the problem. Capitalism can absolutely be brutal, but in order for it to truly work, that brutality needs to be there to take out those companies who become complacent in order to keep a balance. Basically, we need a few regulations to keep people honest, but more importantly, we need smarter, more attentive consumers as well. Otherwise we will eventually end up here again further in the future. Or government could just ration everything and tell us exactly what we need to live on.

Perhaps you guys should do a little research.
First, Acorn was cleared of the bogus charges filed against them. As it turned out, the video evidence used in the case was edited specifically to make the employees who were filmed appear to be guilty. Four independent investigations all found that the videos were made using hidden cameras and selectively edited by some conservative activists. I guess you could say that their lobbying on behalf of the 99% was angering the 1% enough that it's possible they set them up on false charges. Wouldn't be the first time this sort of thing has happened and it won't be the last. Of course none of the mainstream media sources will even touch that because they are all run by corporations and it would bread the idea that they could have been involved somehow. Secondly, there are videos from the group Anonymous warning Wall Street that they were going to do exactly what OWS is doing. Their videos warned that they would be coming on 17Sep11, right around when the OWS movement started. So there is more of a chance that it was Anonymous that helped start this rather than Acorn. Either way, no matter if either group had anything to do with this movement, neither of them are evil groups trying to destroy society, they are trying to set it free from it's 'owners'. "It would seem that an economic recovery would require increasing output and employment, but who are we economists on the outside of the Nobel circle to question the wisdom of a Nobel laureate?" If we apply this situation today. We are already increasing output with current workers today. Workers are working longer hours to compensate the loss of other workers. Increasing employment would require investment naturally. The question is where is the investment? Can you answer that for me? Why are businesses sitting on cash reserves if they arent putting that back into the economy towards employment? Quote:
I going to say that the work "social" has been poisoned by conservatives to such a degree that it hard to define as a neutral term. Think of the word gay. You rational is akin to a just and rational world when it is not. You cannot just take your business elsewhere all the time. Sure if one company charges you more you can take it elsewhere but what if another place is too far and doesn't the savings doesnt outweigh the cost to get there and back. This also doesnt factor in to how educated the consumer is. Maybe they don't know or don't care! You talk of food and shelter but we cant even fix that. That's socialist! Look at the rising number of food stamp recipients. You can google this, this is a fact. We spend more for wars than fixing America. You still do not understand that money = power and its conversel is true as well. There is no denying it, even when I linked a study about it. When a political candidate has money to run media ads, which attack their candidate, you will take that position at fact if you know nothing about it. The ability to question that fact doesnt usually follow because people take mass media for granted in addition to other reasons. This also presents the problem of objective journalism. No one really presents both sides anymore. As much as we hate the bailouts, it really was necessary from preventing the economy from crashing. If you look how sensitive the market was regarding our debt ceiling, you can see how badly how the markets are connected. All you guys who dont understand OWS keep saying the same xxx doesnt work. Well tell me, how it doesnt work, I've yet to see it. |

do what they ask then and leave. If my son doesnt do what I ask he is disciplined. same thing here. There are rules in my house and there are rules in this country, breaking them has consequences. When the lower level consequences dont work, time outs/tickets harsher penalties are enacted. My son gets a pop on the bottom, unruly protesters defying the law, and interrupting everyday life get tear gas and rubber bullets. Its a shame it has to come to that, but if they can be mature adults and be respectful of the laws of the land it wouldnt have to.
Im not for police brutality. They are here to protect and serve. They are now protecting everyone whos not protesting and whos every day life is being interrupted. If the protesters had respect for the police and the laws Im sure things would have played out much differently. and cool egyptians are protesting the violent crack down hu? why dont they protest their current military dictatorship that has been oppressing Christians and killing them. Im glad they are concerned for the people who got tear gassed, but what about the people in their own countries who where run over and killed by military vans. I find that more quite a bit more disturbing dumbasses getting tear gassed and shot with NONLETHAL rubber bullets... lets put THAT in perspective.. gahh
