I shimmed, it wasn't hard. Went to radioshack to get the washers...followed the DIY here. I stripped one of the hard-to-reach screws which made it a pain, but it wasn't a problem.

I have the GP as well (including the extra baffle) and really like it! Looks much better than stock and so far *knock on wood*, no problems... I haven't shimmed yet, but still plan on doing it at some point...

I have the GP (with baffle) as well. I've shimmed and removed the snorkel and can't be any more happy with the performance of the bike and the sound of the exhaust. I have a couple of videos of me doing some aggressive riding, you can check those out to hear how it sounds at higher rpms to redline. I also have this video where I'm comparing the stock and the gp and do a couple of fly-bys. Ignore the bird talk and forward to 5:20 to hear the exhaust at iddle and low to mid ranges. You won't find a better exhaust out there for the price. cheers

Hi
Is anyone experiencing longer warm up times after installing the GP Carbon exhaust? It took me almost 10 full minutes to warm the bike up today, note that the bike was sitting for 2 days Does that normally happen after the bike has been sitting for a few days? Thanks |

How do you warm it up...idle with/without choke?
It's best to choke it, let it sit for maybe 30 seconds then ride with the choke on (not riding it hard) while incrementally turning the choke off. Also, after I put some 5w-40 full synthetic oil in my bike, it warms up quicker. |

The colder the weather, the more likely you'll have to warm it up for longer... Not sure if that affects you at all, but is possible...

I was thinking about the same thing being in a colder climate but its been crazy hot in Ontario as of late. I will change out my oil to 5w-40 and see if that helps out
I appreciate the responses.... amazing forum BTW |

Anyone had issues with the Danmoto Carbon?
I bought the GP Carbon and within a really short while the can started burning and smoking badly. Danmoto said it was due to a gap in the carbon and the exhaust fumes were making it burn. I had to destroy my can and they sent me another for free. I put the replacement on last Thursday and it's doing the exact same thing. The weird part is its at the exact same spot, right side of the bracket. Has anyone else had issues with these?

Thanks for the replies. I emailed danmoto again and they said its either the baffle or my bike is running too rich and the gas is burning the can. Is that possible? I'm going to check my plugs today to see how my engine is running. I'm not looking forward to this... I hope i dont have to mess with my carbs again.
Though it is nice how easily Danmoto deals with issues. At this point they're giving me the option to either get a full refund, use a third carbon can, or upgrade to a full metal one. I guess it could be worse. |

Alright so I took a look at my plugs and here's what I found. Does it look bad enough to imply my bike is spewing enough gas out of the exhaust to burn the can??
The only other possibility Danmoto believes it to be is the baffle but it's as straight and secure as I could get it. Any help is appreciated. |

I just checked NGK's website and my plugs look exactly like their picture of a normal conditioned plug.
I could just be the unluckiest Danmoto customer ever... |

If anything from that picture of your plugs you look lean. What's the color of the porcelain further down the plug?

Lean could be making your exhaust gases hotter, therefore scorching the carbon fiber.

I think you may be right. After looking over lean symptoms again and riding today, I noticed my bike doesn't run very well when cold especially when accelerating. There was a point of lag when pulling away and when I would throttle hard it took a while to gain speed. It's completely different when warm however. Thanks for the help. I'm thinking I should just get myself a jet kit. |

You should be to just raise the needles (shim it with a washer). A jet kit is a little overkill for the Dan Moto slipon, in my opinion.

So how many washers you have so far on each needle? I have a dan moto too and I got 3 washers on each needle and it works for me. I also removed the kleen air I was getting popping and backfiring during decel.

I've got the GP with the Baffle to make it a deeper roar but I currently have an exhaust fume leak where the header pipe meets the exhaust coupling. You might want to check out the other threads for more research. Also, be careful with mounting. My mounting bracket did not have matching size holes for the OEM mounting screw and also be very careful to not over-tighten during install.

The only issues I had was that the coupling and straight pipe didnt mate properly and leaks, the mounting bracket did not have matching holes, the last is that the bracket was a little small and I ended up overtighting it.

Yeah I had that issue with the bracket, too. They told me to just buy a smaller bolt but even then I had some trouble mounting it. It is really tight.

Switching From Stock to DanMoto, Vice Versa
Hey, guys. I plan to pick up a DanMoto (Carbon GP) slip-on, since it's pretty cheap, and louder than the stock.
I got a couple of concerns. I've read that I won't need to rejet with the slip-on, but I've read that some people have rejetted for the slip-on. My second concern is the installation. I know bolting it is a little tricky as in, it doesn't just "fit" and I need to put a lot of effort into securing into the bike. With that said, I still want to be able to do track days with the 250r, and with the DanMoto being 100+ dB, it just wouldn't work. Would switching back to the stock pipe be an easy task? Less than an hour? Putting an hour or so every few weeks to be able to put the stock for the track and then the DanMoto back for the street isn't too bad. But if it's gonna take me hours to switch em, it wouldn't be worth my time. |
