Well I have not had the time yet to get things all set but I had another thread about valve springs for the 250/300. I believe the stock valve spring may be a little weak for the 12psi of pressure I am putting on the back side of that intake valve.
Long story short I tested a good handful of valve springs and found the exhaust valve spring for the 2013-2015 ZX6r fit and I can shim them up to about 46-48psi. Stock is 22-24psi so this should be a good upgrade for valve springs. I just got the new set of zx6r springs in on Friday but was on vacation for the weekend. I'll be getting my springs tomorrow or tuesday but I'll be getting the head ready to be swapped over. I am hoping by the end of this week or into next week I can have the bike up and running with the spare motor with stiff springs and see if this will help. Will keep all posted when I get some results in. If the springs don't work I'm most likely going to quit this project, just out of time and money with it |

Progress:
Cylinder head off the spare engine all set up with the 13-15 ZX6r exhaust springs on intake and exhaust. 2 shims on the intake for 46psi of seat pressure and 1 shim on the exhaust side for 38psi of seat pressure. Just have to find the time to swap the heads over and try it out, I think I might be able to get the head off in the frame so I don't have to pull the motor, or well at least thats the plan! Will keep all updated as usual The wife let me clean the parts in the kitchen sink: Parts laid out ready to be installed: Valve/Springs installed: Adjusted the valve clearance: |

The head can come off in the frame. I've done it many times.

Thanks guys, I figured I could do so, was not sure if any of the cam chain guides would be a pain or not.
Hopefully I can get this head swapped out and give it a go again soon! |

Ahhh progress, looks really good. You realise if this fixes your issues I'll be working day and night to get mine tuned and post some figures.

Lol get on it! Your turbo setup looks way cleaner than mine! I'm still worried maybe it's the headers I have made up but we'll see shortly!

Well heres some icing for the cake, pulled the head off the motor and found what appears to be a pushed head gasket, soooooo I may have gone threw the valve spring trouble for nothing possibly. I am going to yank the rest of the motor out of the frame and swap in the spare engine since I know the gasket wasn't pushed on that bike. Wish I had the time and money to put in some 10mm studs but thats not happening.

I agree. I found stud info a while back, I think the best thing would be to drill the cases to accept 10mm studs, you can get a good amount more of torque on those stud nuts vs 8mm studs. Not only that ARP makes a set of 10mm studs that will work perfect for the 250. The spare motor with the fresh head and gasket is on the bench ready to go into the frame. Stock tq is 23lbs on the 8mm head bolts. I went in increments of 5lbs up to 30lbs total. maybe a little extra pressure will keep the head gasket in place. Old motor is two bolts being pulled away from being out and then I'll have to throw the spare in there. Now if this goes well and the bike is running good but I have head gasket problems down the road I'm going to probably do the 10mm studs but for now I'll see how this goes! |

Well the bike rode somewhat good, until I revved it once a little and now I have a sweet top end noise.
Going to part this bitch out, done and over it. I need to buy a house soon and need to free up money. sigh..... |

Hate it when life gets on tha way of a fun project!
I love the concept of turbo 250 but it's not that Cost effective per HP when your doing all the development. I've spent way more than a used 600, possibly two and still may fail at the dyno. If you really do part it out I hope you get good money for your bits.

No, am running a stock one. I don't think it jumped a tooth as it still ran right, it may have spin a shim or could be worse.
The motor thats in the bike I'm going to pull and inspect the top end, I'll put the stock springs in the head and make sure the motor is sound and will be selling it, same with the other motor. So if anyone needs a 250 motor let me know as I'll have 2 for sale. |

Would the setup fit behind the stock fairings?

The charge pipe will probably hit the right fairing but you could probably get away with a spacer. I have yet to have all the bodywork fabbed up.
Speaking of which if anyone needs race fairing let me know! |

check your inbox please Shawn... ps. I am really sorry you have to give up on your project... I was looking forward to enjoy it completed... please consider just letting it rest in the garage for a while, until you get a chance to pick it up again... it's such a pity, you are so close and so much money, time and effort invested...

which are identical to FI 250's and demand the FI (250 or 300) magnet (rotor) to work properly...
@Somchai... Roland may I ask why you ask ? I mean, if sth was wrong with Shawn's setup it wouldn't even rev up to 9 or 10k... right ?

Spark weak at that RPM? Typical torque peak is around 10k on a regular motor?

Maybe this is the reason
-----------------------------------------------------------------250R-------------- 250R-FI--------------- 300 Crankshaft Sensor Resistance (Ohms) -----100 - 150-------- 100 - 150------------ 180 - 280 Crankshaft Sensor Peak Voltage --------------3.2 V or more---4.5 V or more----- 4.5 V or more Primary Windings Resistance (Ohms) -------2.1 - 3.2--------- 1.0 - 1.6-------------- 1.1 - 1.5 Secondary Windings Resistance (kOhms) -10 - 16 k --------10.8 - 16.2 k --------6.4 - 9.6 k Primary Peak Voltage ------------------------------223 V or more -90 V or more -------90 V or more The FI-Models only have the ECU for controlling everything, but the 250 carbed has a separat IC Igniter for the Ignition. Also take a look to the attached picture how the Stick coil cables are connected at the 250-FI (backwards) and 300 (left side and front). So better don't mix electronics between the different bikes! |

I'm selling the set complete with rotors, spacers, metal valve stems and BT-003 tires 110/70 up front and 140/70 in the rear. Tires have about 50 miles on them at the MOST.
Asking $450 for the set but if your local I can make you a better deal on them. https://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=233439 |
