Tattoos...
So I wanna get my ribcage done, I can't decide Scarlett O' Hara, Bette Davis, or a geisha girl.
What's your opinion? |

dont do something cliche and comon is my advice.
my keyboard is broken so forgive my typing erors. do something with personal meaning i have a web on my elbow to picture doing time i want more but can't come up with something meaningful so i abstain. stick with simple black line art, spaced far apart from other lines to hold up over time. faces, pictures, complex designs turn into a blob of uninteligible nastines. ribcage is more painful than most places, depends how wel you can sit through it wil determine quality.

I was thinking geisha girl... Cause they are beautiful. Then I realized I have more love for the southern belles an Bette Davis, I was trying to stay away from the marylin Monroe that everyone has. I don't really have the room for a huge back piece as most of my back is already taken

Hey babe, would you like to go out some time?
I'd like some more ink, but can't come up with anything meaningful. I'm into simple line art, no colors, nothing complex. Things that pertain to the universal human condition, nothing particularly personal. The more personal the hurt, the more widespread the pain. I've considered scarification somewhere, the word 'restraint'. Sometimes I find myself in a dark place and I've come to learn.... restraint.. is what keeps me alive. is what keeps me out of jail. is what keeps me from doing stupid things to myself and others. I continue to exist for one simple reason. Restraint.

I'm looking into getting a shoulder tattoo this summer/fall. Armor under torn skin style w/a celtic cross/symbol in it. The details are still up in the air, including whether or not to get it of course, but I like the style quite a lot. |

C'mon it will be fun. Mcdonalds. Dollar Menu. Anything you want. I'll buy. Go crazy. It's my treat.
In other news tattoos are rather strange to design. If it's something simple, you can generally draft it yourself and get the artist to do exactly what you're looking for. However if it's something complex, most people just say "yeah, put that ink all over my arm, lots of color, gimme that japanese girl that I've seen, and some trout... wait, are trout japanese? No, what were those fish called... carps.. don't forget the carps. And throw in one of those japanese dudes with swords.. smararui I think they're called. Yeah. Lot's of color." Then they trust the artist to do something that looks decent enough they can be proud of. Something about that rubs me the wrong way, it's as if you're telling the house painter to pick the colors and paint your house however he sees fit while you spend the weekend at a friend's house. I'm also hesitant to pay an artist for their time to draft something, only to wipe the sharpie off with rubbing alcohol and say "I decided against it." Subtly insulting, if you ask me.

It's fairly easy to get cold feet at any stage with a tattoo before you get it. After all once it's on your skin you've got to own it or cover it up with something else. |

Yeah I can tell she's a little nervous which is entirely understandable. Guys like me don't come along very often.
The magnetism is electrifying.. If she's too shy to take me up on the offer I might have to sweeten the deal with a trip to burger king instead but they don't have a dollar menu so I'd be out like 40 more cents.

Old ink, dunno if i ever posted a pic. this was a while ago..
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B82...it?usp=sharing And here's todays new ink... Left wrist https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B82...it?usp=sharing Right wrist https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B82...it?usp=sharing If you read the symbols from my perspective, they say left wrist "there does not exist" | "therefore" | "is not true of" simplified "doesn't exist" | "therefore" | "not true" right wrist "provable" | "because" | "there exists" simplified "provable" | "because" | "exists" overcomplicated left wrist "strike out existential quantifier same as "¬∃" | "therefore" | "does not entail, first order logic" overcomplicated right wrist "provable propositional first order logic" | "because" | "existential quantification, there exists and is defined as" They are logic symbols, used in boolean algebra, philosophy, and occasionally math. Old school computer programming operation code. Pre-binary, pre-pre-hexadecimal. Basically oldest computer programming code that came before anything else. One of the oldest languages that humans have used to program their machines. Decades before fuel injection, the internet, or the world as we know it. The symbols are from the same era as the beginnings of the microwave oven, deep space radio communication, back when we first started learning about the solar system, before nuclear weapons, back when the world was simple and more pure than this modern [insert politically correct synonym for toxic ishthole here]. Points for the first person to assign a meaning, definition. Interpret them however you want, I know what they mean to me.

Also points to the first person to tell me that they look stupid, or like gang signs, or something else negative.
To that person I retract my previous explanation and put forth this... They read, from left to right.. "My" | "cat" | "loves" | "to" | "catch" | "mice"

I get a strong sense of permanence when I look at and think about those symbols. It seems fitting to have them as tattoos. The logic they represent existed long before and will exist long after your ink has faded.
Aesthetically, I like the clear and simple shapes of the symbols too. Despite their well defined meanings, they are somewhat esoteric symbols. Not many people would look at them and know what they mean... which creates a cool sense of mystery! I like! As for what those symbols -- in combination -- mean: I get the feeling that you want to convey how truth is important to you and objective reality is your guide. I'm guessing you're not a fan of mystical / dogmatic thinking. |

I would say I am logical above all else. I don't get emotional, even when people are screaming in my face.
I admire complex mathematics because it clearly defines complex concepts in black and white terms. If this, then that. Not this, than that. If not this, not that. It's very linear. Similar to computer programming. I wouldn't consider myself a relic, but not very many remember the original days of the personal computer etc... when you had to work through command prompt, didn't have a nice pretty onscreen GUI, the early days of linux, when a 26k modem was hot isht and if you were really !33+ you had an extra phone line just for the internet so you didn't have to turn off the telephone when browsing. The simplicity of programming a machine through basic commands with clearly defined meanings... we are all simple machines, what goes on in our heads is that programming. You can interpret the ink h/e you want to, as do I -- but you are correct in saying that it's very binary. Very clearly defined -- this, that, and the other thing. Universal laws, true against any and all evidence to the contrary -- constants, in a world of chaos. Fact that every single person on this planet will die some day. That's an example of a universal constant -- if you understand the constants of the universe (you could call them physics) then you can predict otherwise completely chaotic patterns. Take chaos theory for example -- to mathematically predict the curling and twisting of smoke off the end of a cigarette as it rises from the coal and dissipates. Or the passage of a rain drop to earth in the midst of a hurricane. I think too many people in this world just look at things and think "okay, that's just how it is. I don't have to understand it." That's a weak belief structure. It crumbles when the things that usually "are" become things that "are not." Instant disarray, confusion, hesitation, disorganization. To understand the laws of the universe is to understand one'self, to understand one'self is to know god. To know god is to be immortal. To be immortal is to embrace the eternal within yourself. I'm not talking about religion at all either. But the bottom line is that yeah, regardless of what they mean to me (which I'll probably never directly explain to anyone) -- I can verbally define them to another person however I please. So far I'm sticking with... "my | cat | loves | to |catch | mice" or simply.... "gang signs, leave me alone." Wooooo we need a "share your outlook on life" thread.
