Growing up, people had A LOT of trouble pronouncing my name (I think the worst attempt at it was "Hoin" which I was like seriously....do you even understand how letters work??? Does the y look like it comes after the o? but I digress) so I told everyone my name was pronounce Han, like Han Solo. Last name is Ko, say them together quickly and you get honko, which happened at some point in middle school.
So, contrary to what most people think when they see "honko", I am not making a play on the term "honky" |

1LoneWolf - I've been a loner pretty much all my life, so I think of myself as a "lone wolf".
Also a couple months ago, a classmate and I were talking about motorcycles, and he said "a Harley says 'biker gang' while a Ninja screams 'lone wolf'". I thought it was an interesting thought. "LoneWolf" was taken on this forum, so I added a 1 in front of the name. I'm known as "LoneWolf" on the Bay Area Riders Forum. |

My username has no significant meaning behind it. I just went with whatever I could think of, and the "green" comes from my Ninja 250R being green.

It feels weird giving myself a nickname, and so I used the license off of my first car.
I loved that thing. |

I'm dating myself but my favorite cartoon as a kid was the original Speed racer. I always like the mysterious Racer X who was Speed's older brother Rex. As for the 113 that was my first race number. Just a combo of two numbers I liked 11 & 13.
When I first signed on I used just RacerX but that seemed to cause some confusion with the popular Racer X on this forum. |

Racer X is a cool character, great choice.
I chose greenaero as my user name due to my interest in hypermiling which I achieve through fuel and energy conservation ( a "green"/environmental concept) and the use of aerodynamic steamlining. I'm also a fan of superhero comics and thought the similarity to Green Arrow was interesting. |

Old nickname from time in the army,
Last day of recruit training, having just finished a tactical exercise the Commandant took his parade & instructed all members of the recruit training platoon (recruits included) to have a few beers, relax & that we were going to be fed, load up & move out for home the next day. I was one of the recruits & was drinking Guinness, my section commander arrived to the bar at the same time I did & we both ordered a guinness, the barman was fitting a new bottle of whiskey on the despenser so hive mind kicked in & we both ordered a whiskey, downed it, & then bought the bottle... We finished it with the help of the chef Next morning I was still a recruit (a very hungover recruit) so had to get up for parade. Everyone was pretty hungover but we were all there except for Cpl. Doyle (my section commander). After the usual inspection, run & a march around the square to wake us up we were marched to the cookhouse, nobody there, we were turned around & run to the other cookhouse the best part of a mile away, nobody there (where the hell was the cook? He had been in the mess last night), we were turned around & ran back to the first cookhouse again, then marched back to the square (by a very apologetic Sgt.) Once we got to the square Cpl. Doyle was still AWOL, so 2 other Cpls were sent to find him, they found him in the Sgt’s billet, sitting on a Sgt’s bed, in the clothes from the night before, wet from the waist down… They described the next bit as the start of Apocalypse Now, Cpl Doyle was given a few punches, showered, stripped, dressed & escorted to the square still drunk. He insisted on taking an inspection, wandered down the line insulting everyone until he got to me at the end & in front of everyone snapped to attention & in a smart uniform & military manner exclaimed “I remember last night – we were drinking loads of whiskey” The nickname stuck & even 8 years later the lads from my unit still call me whiskey… |

My handle is Alienjoe. Duh. But seriously in high school i started playing the bass. The company i bought mine from included a few stickers one being an alien playing bass. I put the alien sticker on my bass and thought it was so cool
! When i started playing along with friends, my buddy Dan began calling me alienjoe and the name has stuck with me. I have alien stickers on my helmets and my bike.

I ride a Ninjette, and as Canadian members know, anyone from Newfoundland is generally called a "Newfie". Got a kick from watching the movie The Perfect Storm when the captain barks at one of his guys, "I'll send you to the land of Newfies!!"

Daks is my offline and online nickname.
Has 100% nothing to do with my real names, though there's a certain point where I think I may change my middle name to it. Basically my real name is rather long, and I hate all abbreviations involved with it. My sister called me Daks due to various childhood inside jokes and then when I moved out to CA I just introduced myself as Daks all the time and boom, nickname. You CAN give yourself a nickname. You just need to leave everyone you love and move 3000 miles across a country. |

It's started in my class. The Doctor who teaches us started to assign everyone a nickname or "kunyah" in Arabic for an arabic subject.
Abu stands for "Father of". My initial name was "Abu Risalah" which stands for "Father of Letters" (since I am working with Malaysian Postal Service) and it stuck for years. "Risalah" is the noun for letters in Arabic, but in Malay language, it meant "newspapers / pamphlets". It's like being called "The Father of New York Times" lol... The basic rule for a kunyah is that you need to be named based on your firstborn, or your hobbies or your job. It's just that normal Arabs' customary. After my wife gave birth to my son, Mishary, I quickly made announcement that my kunyah from that moment on will be referred to as "Abu Mishary". I have just recently used this kunyah and still am in the middle of getting used to it.
