I wish I could wear earplugs and hear my in-helmet Bluetooth stereo. I know they make earplugs for performing musicians, but they are expensive and I don't know if they will help. To make things worse, my hearing has always been bad and my helmet doesn't seal well (has an ear-piercing whistle too). Ugh.

Anyone know what those things are called that cushion the speakers against your ears with studio monitor headphones? I'd like to see if a music hardware store or something has some mini ones so I can make some speaker earmuffs out them.

You can also get custom ear plugs with headphones built in. I believe there was a booth at the last Cycle World Trade Show in Seattle that had them for something like $100. Regular custom ear plugs were $50.

Maybe a little expensive, but much cheaper then loosing your hearing... I know there's some mail in places, but I've no idea how much they are.

Lets see, you have most the riding gear but no bike. Glad to see that you are doing things in the proper order. Are you able to take the MSF course anytime soon

What you don't like the penguin pants? lol

Sidi Vertigo Lei boots and Scorpion Savannah pants. Does your pack have the spare shield pocket? Wish mine came with it but they don't add the pocket anymore.

Well, that would involve cutting my $280 headset to splice them and it likely would be all distorted (output meant for larger speakers).

It would also be a pain to get my helmet on and off considering that I would have to juggle the helmet without having the wires pull the earplugs out before I could get it on. I'm carrying my tank bag easily 98% of the time too (darn close to 100%, actually). If they could be connected and disconnected externally, it would be different.

wow!!! i did not even know it came with a shield pocket. thanks!! there are so many compartments on this thing. this bag is great. i watched the video review of it and was able to find mine. it is at 5:14. i wonder why they stopped making that feature. i wonder if people's shields were breaking. hmmm....

btw, i like the penguin pants. just that it was clashing with the rest of your colors. now if it was gray or black, that would be different.

oh, to anyone interested, here is the video i watched about the bag. they even make them in black now with the same camo reflective areas. i wish they had those when i was buying mine. oh well....

Yeah I know! There are ssooooooo many pockets that I watched the review 5 times finally called SBTG and said my pack is missing the helmet shield pocket so was in the process in mailing it back and got a call saying they no longer add the shield pocket anymore. Made me a little mad cause I really thought that feature was cool. oh well I have a cool pack that is hi-viz.

I'm wondering about what visor tint to get. I see a lot of people with dark smoke visors but how well do you see through them when the sun starts to go down?

Would I be better off with light smoke? Like, what is the practicality of having dark smoke?

This is what keeps me from getting a tinted visor... I have a clear visor and prescription sunglasses. Once the sun goes down, I switch glasses.

I think if I didn't wear glasses, I'd probably go for a dark visor and carry a spare clear one. But since I have to carry my regular glasses anyway, I don't bother with extra visors.

well the obvious benefit of dark smoke is that it blocks the sunlight better... also, you don't have to wear sunglasses. i am fine wearing them until dusk, but yeah, after it gets real dark, i need to change to a clear visor. once i got caught out after dark with my dark smoke visor and it wasn't too bad, but still would have preferred the clear visor at that point.

oh yeah, another benefit of the dark visor is that it looks cool.

Vemar VSREV Helmet:

Fieldsheer Bullet Tex Jacket:

Tour Master HDX Gloves:

And I'm getting my pants and boots in the mail tomorrow
Joe Rocket Pheonix 2.0 Mesh Overpants:

Shift Racing Fuel Street Shoes:

I also bought some Dickies work pants on clearance for $10. I might be able to get some pockets made in the knees so I can put some CE armor in there and make them a spare pare of riding pants.

So far:

HJC CL-15 Draco Helmet in silver/black/white
First Gear Contour Ladies Mesh Jacket in white
Icon Ladies gloves, I forget the model, black leather
Tourmaster Tracker pants in gunmetal
Harley Davidson riding boots (leftover from my cruiser-girl days)

I have an extensive wish list, starting with new boots! The HD's are comfy, but not armored. Plus, they look like black construction boots.....not sexy!

I roll in:

Shoei X-eleven (with the black Kagayama graphics, because the badass shield graphic keeps me safer )
Scorpion Nikki leather Jacket
Scorpion Haley leather Pants (although, I got them a size larger so I could wear them as overpants, that way I could wear them to work)
Alpinestars SP-2 gloves
Alpinestars Ridge boots

Put it all together and I look something like this:

Leather makes everything better
I kind of have my eye on the Dainese Yu 1 piece, but I'm trying to spare my wallet the violent stabbing that that would require for now.

Motorcycle gear is so goddamn cool. I just wish they made nearly the range of colors and designs in women's gear as they do in men's.

Seriously. But shoei helmets fit my head so well and look so cool! But still, after dropping just over $600 on the X-eleven, I think I'll be resisting my urges to get the twelve for as long as possible- but damn does it sound like a nice piece of equipment <3

Although, if I ever crash this one *knock on wood that doesn't happen* or come across a mysterious but bountiful pile of money *knock on wood that does happen* it's so on :P

Visors amplify/focus the sunlight so a light smoke one may not be enough. I chose to go with dark smoke over light smoke and they've worked really well until sundown. Plus they look REALLY COOL =] I have a clear and a dark smoke visor. I carry the spare visor in a bag wrapped around the right side of my abdomen if I plan on needing it.

Yeah, I like them a lot. They're decently feminine, allow for a couple adjustments for varying proportions with the laces at the thighs and the zipper and small belts on the bottom of the leg, and they match everything else in scorpion's line quite nicely. Plus they're ventilated, armored, and the leather feels quite secure ^_^

That, and they're also somewhat lowrise, which was kind of a big draw for me. They're easily high enough to reach my jacket, but the don't cut into my waist as I move and they're decently comfortable to walk around in. I'd recommend them, if that's the look you're going for

Although, if I ever crash this one *knock on wood that doesn't happen* or come across a mysterious but bountiful pile of money *knock on wood that does happen* it's so on :P
lol, all my gear combined doesn't add up to $600. I got my helmet for $120 on clearance at motorscyclesuperstore.com. Now it's $350 so I think I did pretty good. It's an Vemar's top of the line Italian made race helmet. The quality and fit & finish is top notch.
