i think you are thinking about the honda VTX. that is a cruiser. my bike is a sports tourer. i heard the "VFR" stands for it's "V-4" engine. it also has a VTEC engine that switches from 2 to 4 valves at about 6500 rpms.

I might try organizing a ride on the 17/18th to celebrate my bike being back in working order :3

p.s. Whoever that was that suggested adjusting my sag/preload, thank you thank you thank you. I just stiffened it up a few notches, and realized how much it was actually sagging at factory settings. I haven't gotten a chance to test it out yet, but I'm guessing it should be a LOT better.

I just got mines installed last week, it looks pretty solid. Hopefully we never have to find out how tough they really are...

Where do you install them? The frame sliders I had came with a replacement engine mount bolt that you screwed the sliders on to.

what frame sliders did u buy?...from what u are saying, sounds like you just replace the top engine bolt with the brackets and bolt they provide in the kit

I got mine from the Kawi dealer. IRP brand. Yeah that's how it's done. The bolt is not that strong either.. Mine bent nearly 45* from my 20mph fall. It didn't bend at the hole it goes through though, thankfully.

I chose the shogun brand one over any others mainly because the way it's designed, with a bracket mounted using the front and rear engine mounts and the slider attached to the bracket.

The frame sliders that attach the sliders directly to the engine mounting bolt is a cheap, easy, and dangerous way to mount the sliders. Because if you were to crash the sliders would breakaway directly from the bolt thats holding up your motor and cause more serious damage. also it could cause frame damage since the bolt is going to bending inside the frame

Yep. Fairly certain I don't have any frame damage from bending that bolt, but I'm definitely going for Shogun after having that catastrophic failure at about 20mph.

did you guys have to cut for the sliders to get in? i know I referred to the ninjette diy threads to get it in. I had to cut. the description on ebay said no-cut, but still had to cut. Happy with it though. didnt know what to cut it with. i just used a dremel. I think theirs an easier way though

thats what i did...did everything "hand" tight...then used the torque wrench to confirm at least 32ftlbs ..haha

edit:..tried to not make it "too tight" doing my "hand tight" technique...i too broke a lot of stuff coz i taught it could always be just a little tighter...lol

Wow 32 ft/lbs? I thought 45 ft/lbs was low for the stock bolt.

Just got my new brake pads in the mail on monday, got them installed yesterday before work. Didnt get to fully break them in just yet, but i did a little riding up the and down the street by my house and the feel way better than stock(esp. since mines were literally gone lol)

surprisingly i just found out that the OEM pads are Double H compound front and rear, They're the same P/N actually. hopefully it wont matter since i downgraded the rears to a Double G compound.

I got the EBC double H Sintered for the front and EBC Organic Kevlar compound for the rear.

Yeah pretty much just depends on what compound you wanna run, cause even though the EBC and Oem are rated the same ppl have stated that the EBC is an improvement over the oem.

I'll let you know what i think over time.

Although i need to save money again so i Replace do my sprocket and chain

A split combo Oem front and a SuperSprox 42 rear. I'm aiming for a 3.0 final gear ratio....if i remember correctly it drops the rpm at a given speed by roughly 1000 rpm. Right now i run around 7500 rpm going 70-75 on the freeway so a reduction of 1000 rpm will help cool down the vibes in the pegs and bars.

I chose the oem front cause it comes with a rubber bushing installed where all aftermarket ones dont.... it supposedly doesnt do anything but reduce the drivetrain noise.

Went to Cycle City with my best friend looking for a ninja 250 or er6n for him. The 07, 09, 10 ninja 250s are all $6995 (LOL). Backordered on er6ns.

As we were leaving, I was going to show him a sportster 883 for shits n giggles. Turns out there was a Kawi W650 with a corbin seat mixed in with all the cruisers. Needless to say we both **** brix.

Going with him now to pick it up and ride it home for him
