I got my tapered roller bearings installed in my steering stem. Initial impressions are very good. The steering is butter smooth now, I feel like I need to tighten the stem just a touch. Idk, I need to get everything all put back together and then take her for a spin to see how she feels on the road.

Tightened the clutch lever screw (I think that's what you call it) because it kept trying to back off on me on my way to school, then cleaned her up after making her go through the rain yesterday...

Removed the battery tender for the new bike
Question for you all. I financed this new bike, and got insurance for it that day through Progressive. Progressive does not have any coverage options for loan payoff / GAP coverage. Is there a 3rd party company that I can get loan coverage through? I would hate to have to pay the finance price should something happen.

Not through my bank, through one of the dealers. I totally forgot to ask about that coverage when I financed it I'm hoping that there's some kind of 3rd party that can offer it.

Ah, if I were you, I'd go to the dealer and ask if they have anything like GAP and if you can add that on after the fact, if you haven't done so already. I say this because my bro just financed a bike through the bank and opted out of GAP. The lady said he had like 3 months or something (I can't remember exactly) to decide before it was completely off the table and that he should think about it. I explained what it entails and he's going to go back and get it.

So I got the Rear tire off Jiggles 300 mounted up on the 250 and made the appropriate marking for motivation purposes I was able to get 1600 miles out of the front tire off Jiggles N1K. It didn't get me nearly as far as I thought but for free it was a good test. Rode this almost new IRC road wiener home just now and I noticed nothing significant but my commute is rather tame. I've got my milage recorded from today so we can see just how long this tire will last assuming I don't chuck the thing after my first fun canyon attempt
I also gave the bike a good washing and was noticing how much drag both my front and rear wheels had, with a good spin they'd maybe rotate twice after washing it and taking it up to 80mph to blow most of the water off and clear the chain, I parked it and finished drying and detailing it. To my surprise both wheels spun so free I thought my pads were spread but then I remembered I had just stomped on both of them a minute ago so they were still tight. I know a good clean chain helped the rear but the front was a bit odd since I didn't get into the caliper to clean it at all(needs to be done soon) but it still really freed up after the washing. Note: it was hard mounting up the IRC with a brand new Rosso II sitting right next to it begging to be mounted |

My first year and 12,000 miles in the street was on a motorcycle permit, OEM road winners and zero fun miles in the canyons. Then I got my license and new tires then the following week did my first group ride up Hamilton. Its funny that although the reasons were totally different, I basically followed what everyone tells a noob to do. Get a year under your belt and several thousand miles then try hitting the twisties with a group after your comfortable. The ninja 250 is to much bike for me so I'm thinking one of those Honda 250 eliminator they use in the MSF class would be better for me. Everyone over there like "I need to upgrade to a better bike" and I'm over here like "I need a slower bike because this things dangerous" |

I love seeing this little bike in your hands. You're always my example when my friends ask why I don't get a faster bike. I tell them that it's all the rider, not the bike. I'm like, "this dude rode pro, and now he's the fastest dude I've ever seen on a 250! I'm on my little 250 so I can keep learning to be fast."
They usually shut up after that. |

Shimmed with one washer, removed airbox snorkel and installed a k&n air filter.
Not sure if the bike is actually a better ride now or it's just a combination of placebo and induction noise :s |

mounted my license plate which turned out be a PITA. I actually had to bend the mounting brackets to get enough space to maneuver.

I realized that my tires are so squared-off from all my freeway riding that I can actually feel the change in them when I lean further.
This spooks me because it feels a bit like the rear coming out but god dammit it's not going to help the squaring problem if I avoid it. Have half a mind to take a sander to the rear to round it off a bit but that'd just be a waste of good rubber. But I can hardly blame myself. Still need time to make the $400 in plastic welding and painting worth it. |

Installed my GSXR shock finally last night! Raised the rear a tad with the new links and the bike feels sportier! I need to dial in the suspension and will probably grind down the link bracket on the swing arm if it really hinders movement.

My fairings, turn signals and gas tanks are ready for me to pick up! Which I will do either tomorrow night after work or Friday.
Once I get the parts back I will put the bike back together and install the ZG double bubble, flush mount turn signals and my fender eliminator with new rear turn signals. Then, I'll do the following: 1. Oil change / new oil filter 2. Install exhaust 3. Install WC lowered risers, EX500 clutch perch.
