Anyone running a size 150 on the rear?

I'm thinking of putting on a 150 BT003 on the rear....anyone have any problems with that?

perhaps i got a different brand tire, its a Michellin...but 150/60/R17 is great, fits great too, no modification is needed at all. You dont have to take of the chain guard or anything...and LOOKS AMAZING! As far as riding, well i havnt done much riding cuz of the damn snow and cold weather but from going around the block a bit it makes no difference in lost power or riding comfort. I SAY GO FOR IT!!! Put it on, you wont regret it!

I've got a BT016 in 150/60/17 on the back with no ill effects. I've only rode <1000mi since I've put it on, so I really don't know how it will wear.

Has anyone seen how this affects your insurance seeing as it is a size bigger then stated from Kawasaki for the rim.

If you stack it and wanna claim and are found to have a bigger tyre then what is stated acceptable for the rim do you think you will get paid out.

I had my local refuse to fit a 150 tyre because it was not of a size rated for the said rim.

If the tire is to big for the rim then you may have an issue. However if the tire fits the rim there really isn't anything the insurance can do I wouldn't think. I mean for hell sake there are custom bikes everywhere you look and they all have insurance.

If you look at the first post in the Bridge thread in the Picture section, my bike has the 150 tire on it.

I already replaced the front with a 120 and would like to upgrade the rear to a 150 or maybe a 140....I've heard the bikes handles better and feels lower to the ground....I do lots of canyon riding and zero freeway riding so I want a larger tire in the rear.....

if i remember correctly, try to stay out of the rain with that 003 on there, it isn't as good at the 016 when it comes to rain.

well...insurance...simple...dont tell them! What they dont know wont hurt them....and as far as putting the tire...well remove the wheel from the bike and just take the wheel with the tire...they wont know what bike it came off of!

just to let you know when you get your bt-003rs mounted in the rear make sure to take a good look at it as I had mine mounted this weekend and they were wavy on the side walls I guess just a manufacturer defect but I would just take a look before you ride off

i didnt have a way to really test it as its below 30 degrees out here, but as soon as its going to warm up, im definetly gonna test it on a longer ride. So far no power differance that i'd be able to tell.

The BT-016 150/60 is what I put on this weekend. Looks way better. Haven't been able to test it out much aside from the ride home. It's raining today, so I gotta wait.

For all you guys getting BT-016s let me tell you, it is just an awesome tire. I've got about 800mi on mine, and I have yet to have the rear step out since I mounted the new tire. It's really confidence inspiring.

The tire is on and boy does it make a difference......the bikes seems lower to the ground and a lot stable around the twisties.....I picked up the bike and 4:45 and was in GMR at 5 pm testing out the 150......loved it and the look is incredible! Check it out!

My set up is 120 up front and 150 in the rear...the bike stands a bit taller and handles much better...or maybe it's all in my head....

do you have any pics of the clearance around the swin arms? i would love to add a 150 to the rear, just dont want it touching anything or blowing up while i ride.

Well it wass not just me that this has happend to in your pics you can see how the tire has bumbs on the edge both left and right i dont think that you will see a diff till you start to wear the tire out

The only thing that is close to it is the chain guard but it doesnt touch it at all.....before I left the shop I made sure nothing touched--here are a few more angles....

Which pic and where at? Is this something you can feel? or just see? I just got back from riding the canyon for 40 minutes.....they felt nice to me....I wanted to get a ride in before the rain hits......the manager said if there were any problems he'd put another tire on...assured me that the BT003 is very similiar to the BT016...maybe he's just blowing smoke up my ass....

How is the 140 compared to the pinched 150? Are they practically the same in width since the 150 is pinched and the 140 not? Also, the 140 is taller, how does that feel?

I dunno Adrian, the profile is way, way off on those tires. They are pinched in so much that the sides of the tires are practically vertical, and can never be used no matter how far you lean the ninjette over. That's not a problem in and of itself, but the problem is that when you do lean the ninjette all the way over, the part of the tire that is left to contact the ground at that point has less surface area than it should have if the profile was appropriate. YMMV.

Doesn't look right to me- but im no expert....

@Keenan - heres my 150- I also geared 15t on my front drive sprocket - so with stocK chain it was a bit closer- So Tues2nd (march) i bought a new chain added a link and here's the results... without gearing up it should be fine... I should have changed my chain sooner IMO.

I have the Dunlop gt 501 70 17
3200 miles so far .. I had stock IRC tire on it was all over the place in the rear... Now no problems.... Yet

I do not know if they are taller but the 140 fits great, i would not say to not go with a 150/60 but i would say dont do it with the 003rs tire,and this tire is one bad ass

tire just got back from a ride in the twistys and all i can say is WOW

I just got the BT-016 put on last week, and it doesn't look pinched like that at all. I will say that the dealer over-inflated both tires by 10psi, so watch out for that.
