you know they don't recommend mixing a radial and a bias ply tire on the bike, right?

different construction methods will make the tires flex differently affecting handling. I always replace my tires as a set of like brand and model of tires.

I take it you weren't aware of this? Go to any tire manufactures' website and they all warn of not mixing construction types.

well i am goin to buy the front in 2 weeks , but my rear tires is in prety bad shape , last owner , never lean while making truns, the middle of the tire is flat and the edges looks brand new , i had the bike for about a month now and when you look at the tires you can telll i get on the turns, just on sat i went out riding and i had to stop short at a red light, the rear tired locked up on me lost control of the bike but thank got i was able to get control over the rear and stop the bike without me dropping it or hitting my friend who also stop short, i was just breaking, not hard either, im not riding the bike now bc it needs a new rear tire asap......

just my opinion but if you're braking hard you shouldn't be on the rear brake... braking so hard pushes the weight to your front tire and there isn't enough grip on your rear... it just locks up. leave it in gear and feed the clutch as you slow down so you don't stall. also just my opinion, but i would rather not stop short at a yellow light for fear of being rear ended if i can make it through the yellow... and... also just my opinion but if you didn't see it turn yellow in time maybe there's another issue here. too fast? not looking far enough ahead? staring at my fat girlfriend on the back?

Locking the rear isn't a tire problem, it's a rider problem.

Alex (both of them) was trying to point out that a sliding rear tire is a rider induced problem, not only a flatted rear tire issue. It happens to all of us at one point or another, especially on this bike, but the cure is to learn how to use the rear brake better. You need to learn/get a feel for the rear under hard braking situations.

Not saying you don't need a rear tire, but there are ways around the sliding problem you are having.

no actually it was 2 red light , and they were about 50 yards apart, we wwere coming from the parkway at a regular speed, we didnt see the light bc we were looking at the 2nd red light, idk how your roads and light work in your state , and we werent speeding we were doin about 30-45mph , we didnt see the light bc we were looking at the wrong traffic light, lesson learn but my rear tire on the middle looks like a set of slick tires on my track car ..................my friend was a head he was in his 600 even he had a hard time stopping ,we both pass the white lane....

something just doesn't sound right here. 30-45mph? the light you were looking at was 50 yards in front of the one you stopped at, but how long did you have to see that the light you were supposed to stop at was red? how long do your lights stay yellow before turning red? isn't the national standard 3 seconds?

disregarding all of this... a rear tire doesn't lock up by it's self. that's the point we were trying to make. motorcycles aren't cars. you mess up, it isn't just an insurance problem. you die, or worse, you wind up horribly disfigured and paralyzed with minimal brain function and wind up having someone support you the rest of your life. what i'm trying to get across here is that if you're new to performing a skill that when you fail has dire consequences, you shouldn't throw up so much attitude when people legitimately try to help you develop those skills. which is what people here try to do. help.

don't go for the 120 front -i made that mistake it slows down steering and you will slide off rear and have over an inch of tire to use in front -it does feel stable in a straight line, but it's useless in cornering

(110)140/70/17 sport demon seems to be the best of both worlds imo.

It's a bit wider giving it a beefier look but doesn't have any real fitting issues. I personally stuck with 110/130 to keep weight down and performance up. I've ridden on my friends 250r with the 120/150 setup and to me it didn't feel any different in a straight line. Cornering felt slower to drop in and less stable in a lean but that could have just been me now used to a different bike (even if it's same model).

I originally ordered mine from Moto Superstore but was able to get a bigger discount at my dealership due to installation fees. Moto Superstore is awesome though

Are The Demons are good for comuting and a few weak twistys on weekends? I'm thinking of upgrading to em from the stock tires I just don't feel comfterable leaning to much on stock.

I don't have anything else to compare them to other than the stock IRC, but compared to those the sport demons are absolutely amazing. I've put a little over 1,000 miles on them so far in just about any condition (except really cold) and they've done beautifully. After the break in period, I've never had one slide in rain or dry (I'm still super cautious in the rain from bad experiences with the IRC).

Once I wear these out, I definitely plan on getting another set. For under $100 each, they can't be beat imo.

To install a tire? Out here there a number of places that will mount and balance a tire (off the bike) for $20 or less, and $40 - $50 at most if you want the shop to remove and replace the wheel from the bike as well. $95 is quite a shock...

be careful with the fresh rubber for the first 50ish miles. loads of people have dumped it thinking it was all good only to realize brand new tires don't have much bite.

with prices like that you may want to invest in some tire irons and learn how to mount/balance them yourself

Love that tire...best thing since sliced cheese

Did you have to use the er6f to get it to fit just right? I had that tire on my 08- no mods....
