Dunlop GT501 Replacement Inquiry

Looks like I'm due for a new front tire (balding). My current GT501 front is a 110/70 17. However, upon my search I see that this size is no longer common (hard to find in stock), but a 110/80 17 seems more available.

For those using the GT501, are you using a 70 or an 80 profile? If an 80, any fit issues under the front fender and difference in handling vs the 70?

My rear GT501 has plenty of life left and would hate buying a new set for the sake of replacing the front. On the other hand, I though about mix matching with a Sport Demon, but prefer not to if I don't have to.... comments welcome

Oh! a little about my riding.... I am NOT a commuter. Majority of my rides involve technical (mostly tight) twisty back roads. I generally ride a what I consider a spirited pace (C+ to medium). Therefore, I need good grip.

That said, Help me decide a tire replacement ....

Thanks!

The 110/70 should definitely be available, check out dennis kirk if it's found nowhere else. But - you can't go wrong with either the BT45's, Sport Demons, or some of the other choices listed in that wiki; the GT501's aren't the only good choice.

AH! so this is where all the tire info is hiding. No wonder I didn't get too many hit selections within the General upon my initial search, prior to my thread.

Thanks a bunch Alex!

I guess I should mention I eventually found a GT501G replacement, $89 and in stock through Amazon
