Very nice clean assembly. How do you like the Bridgerock tires? I'm trying out some Perellis. The first time I ever put anything but a Dunlop on a bike.

About 3 weeks later I received my shorty levers from China. Paid $20.
I HAVE to give them a 5* rating because I can't find any flaws. Had my fingers crossed. Figment was perfect took me 10min total to take the OEM levers off and install the aftermarket. I got to pick the red in the adjuster. Very comfortable I'm able to break and clutch with two fingers with ease. They're as heavy as the OEM and very very well constructed. If I have issues down the road I'll lower my rating of course but for $20 these things are nice. Only downfall was the shipping speed but that was expected. Also I thought the adjusters would be more for looks but they really do serve a purpose and there is quite a difference between numbers 1 and 6.

Nice job AJ. I knew you'd like them. You had better luck than I, mine had to be modified a-bit.

hey, I did the same thing! Got these $21 levers off ebay, primarily because they were just 1-hr away in Sacramento and I could get them before Laguna Seca two weekends ago.

Installed easily and worked out perfectly!!!

New levers are secret weapon! I got 2nd-place in my 1st AFM race this last weekend!

It was all bike's mojo anyway! It won 250 Production class last year with previous owner (who's racing a 300 this year). So all I had to do was hang on!

Took my decommissioned '96 bike for it's first proper run. New Pirelli Diablo Scooter tyres, Reactive cartridge emulators & springs up front, Hagon rear shock (38mm cartridge) with remote preload at the back, and fresh grease on the linkages.

Absolutely wonderful, now handles as well as any modern bike, revs like stink, and was just an easy comfortable pleasure to ride. Did remind me why I tend to avoid larger bikes though... I can't help thrashing them! My R6 5EB was boring unless thrashed, and when thrashed I risked jail if caught. The GPX I can thrash at more (or less) legal speeds. Plus it's lighter, cheaper, more economical. What's not to love?!

Got a sweet deal for a racing rearset + reverse shift, steel braided hose for US$120.

Well, it's not Sato Racing or Galfer, but i guess this will do at the moment. Coming up next in November another trackday, hope I can improve my lap time with these.

Got an AiM Solo lap timer, and I'm super stoked to try it out.

I've just been using my Garmin Virb camera for post-track day review. I finally got convinced by enough friends using lap timers to look at the Solo.

What finally got me over the edge was the Solo's predictive lap time feature, which will tell you in real time whether you're faster or slower than your previous best. I consider it the ultimate in being a poseur.

Fired it up and rode it finally! @genosr1 it runs like a bat out of heck.

Some new carb gaskets, a little exhaust RTV, and a new piece of fuel hose means she stopped leaking finally.

Jetting is close for now, but will need some electrical help to get it fine tuned.
Newgen engine, 2mm bore and high compression pistons, opened up intake on pregen airbox, new WIX spongey filter.
38 idle jets,
2.5 turns idle screw
110 main jet
3 washers on the needles.

Only problem is the pregen spark plug boots don't seem to play nice with the newgen head. #2 cylinder is randomly not firing. It's okay above 5,000 rpm, but under that it dies. And this engine really doesn't like starting on one spark... Then I can reach down under the tank, click the boot into place on the plug, and she roars back to life easy as pie.

@Ghostt, I remember you had a write up somewhere for taking apart/cleaning the spark plug boots and ignition coils. Think I could frankenstein a newgen plug boot onto a pregen coil? I like the mounting I have now but I want the boots to play nice with the newgen head. Got a link handy for that cleaning/PM DIY you put together, pretty please?

Not today. But yesterday FINALLY got it out of the garage and onto the street. First time riding it since July 1st when I started have electrical issues. Hopefully have them resolved. It’s nice having two working bikes in the barn vs one working and one in pieces.

discovered a leak

Tore apart my bike that's been sitting close to three years (ya ya, I know) to clean the carbs and refresh everything. When I went to drain the oil, a whole lot more than oil came out. My carbs must've been stuck open and all my gas drained into my oil. YUCK.

My first concern was coolant but got to rule that out pretty quickly. Picture shows how much oil/gas came out. Needless to say I made a mess overflowing out of my pan because I certainly wasn't expecting all of that.

I don't have a big enough garage. As it is, my Subaru spends all its time in the driveway.

New gen plug boots frankensteined into pregen leads and coil packs. She runs like a champ now with proper spark. Needs some jetting help at small openings but I think it's close enough for now.

Did some surgery (with a dremel ) to my spare chin fairing to attempt to make it fit with my new gen exhaust... it fits! But it's close in a couple spots. I bet I'm going to get some melting. It's ugly too, so I'll come back later and attempt to clean it up a little.

I also got one of my dash lights working again and changed my jetting.

Thanks, it's a bit of a classic at this point.

Main jet: 112
Needles: 2 washers
Idle jet: 38
Mix screws: 2.5 turns

It previously had a 110 main jet, but it felt a little dull at the top end.

It's a 2mm over bore newgen engine with high compression pistons, an opened airbox lid, and a tyga exhaust.

Your main jet might be spot-on with your overbore. I'm running 110s on a box stock 250 (Yoshimura slip-ons) and I'm happy with it. I can pull an indicated 100 M.P.H. in 6th with 15/42 gearing at 10K. I haven't had a need to touch any other jetting.

I'm running 15/43 gearing and a fresh chain/wheel bearings.

I did some "science" today. At about 11,500 rpm in 6th, I indicated a hair over 110, the gps claimed 101.1; I'm pretty happy with how the main felt there.

When I had a factory pregen engine, aftermarket exhaust, and opened intake lid, I found I got the best 0-60 times on a 108 main jet, 3 washers, and otherwise factory jetting.

Sounds like you have a very healthy engine. Good work.

Actually yesterday but I installed new shorty levers off of eBay. I got the mzs ones that are mentioned earlier in the thread and for just over $20 I can't really complain. The fit is what I expected, pretty loose but nothing a few strategically placed washers couldn't fix up, still have to tighten the brake side but the clutch is nice and snug. Took a ride after work today to see how they feel and must say I'm very pleased. Now if I only had a set of Pazzos/crg to compare against, im very curious to see if they're $100+ nicer than the cheapos.

Wow, that's a beautiful shade of red! It leaps out at you.

can you please post the link if they're still holding up after a month of riding?
I'd love to get some shorter and adjustable levers.

i installed my freshly cleaned carbs today

I just put my bike back together after pulling out the carbs to clean them in a hope to fix the issue of engine dying on throttle open.
I did nothing other than clean and reinstall.
No issues now, runnning better now than it has done in a few years, despite my 2yo dropping a fairing bolt into the exhaust.
This is the most indepth thing I've ever done on any bike... previous work was an oil change and removal of Kawasaki clean air system on a 2000 W650.

Front fork seals need doing, so starting to look into how to do that myself... sure hope I have the tools I need to do that. Going to be very expensive if I have to use a mechanic.
any tips welcomed
