Quiet squeaking noise coming from gas tank?

I sometimes here a low-volume squeaking noise coming from the top of the gas tank. It sorta sounds like a small amount of air escaping from a compressed space. Is this a normal sound? It usually happens when I mount the bike. I am wondering if the gas sloshing around in the tank could be causing it?

lol (I'm sorry bro, can't help it)
It's normal...with a capital N. The ninjette's have this issue, some thing to do with the gas cap/gas dissipation....I'm sure someone will give you a more technical answer. Point is it's NORMAL and NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT.

p.s. I like to imagine that it's my 'jet's way of saying how much she loves me every time she whines

It's completely normal man, there are tons of threads here of people experiencing the same thing. I myself get it all the time, especially on warm days. It's the gas fumes expanding and exiting through the top.

Next time might I suggest doing a forum search instead of adding to the vast amount of threads on these type of questions.

My Ninjette always whines when I leave her. Always makes me turn around and tell her that it will be ok

All these post an no one lead him to the potential fix. I got at minimum a 80% reduction in noise with this mod.
