Is that a 650?

Coming through the base gate this morning the guard asked me if my bike was a 650, I said no its a 250. He said 750? Oh yeah I can see that. I kept trying to convince him it was a 250 but he was sure it was a 750. Funny Funny

I love how everybody assumes the bike is huge. I've never had a guess lower than 750. I just laugh and agree

I've been asked "Is that the new zx-10r?" or comments like "Nice 600" by other sportbike owners lol. I always find it funny when they respond with disbelief when they are told it's a 250. I'm waiting for some clueless person to respond "THAT THING HAS 250HORSEPOWER?!?!?!?!?!? ".

I can understand this phenomenon with the new-gens. But I've also had this happen a few times with my pre-gen. o.O

I've been called a 600 a few times.
Once a guy called out to me at a red light asking if it was the new 250 =] first person to get it right.

Also a guy I took the MSF with bought a 1000 ninja and on the MSF videos it was a 250 green/yellow prejen ninja I do believe and he was like "Hey!Its my 1000!"

Last futzed with by oblivion007; August 4th, 2011 at 08:06 PM. Reason: forgot to mention prejen

When I still had the new-gen, plenty of people assumed it was a 600.

Funnily enough, my mother could easily tell the differences of the 250 and the 600. When she first saw it after I got it, she said it was noticeably physically larger, and she noticed the tank's more prominent surface area and the undertail exhaust.

Though she did intel in the Air Force for almost 20 years. Well, National Guard, then AFR. So maybe that's why she noticed.

Hah some teens walking by the other day as I was putting the carbs back on thought it was a ducati. Makes me want to paint the tank red and really fool people. Maybe "dusaki" stickers in the ducati font.

Before I got educated, I thought all sport bikes were either CBRs, or Hayabusas.

Ideas to tell people

I have been thinking about smart ass answers for the "is that a 600?" situations.

Maybe "no it's the new 15 cubic inch ninja"
Or 250,000 cubic millimeters

Maybe some ex15ci stickers would work

Had a guy ask me if it was a 900 the other day. We were in a Wawa parking lot. He was riding an electric bicycle and had said he used to ride a 400cc Kawasaki (I believe.) Never heard the 900 before.

Had another guy stop to chat with me for a moment in the Home Depot parking lot. Asked if I knew any bike mechanics, told him 'nah, first bike, don't know anyone who rides, do own maintnance..etc.' He seemed pretty stoked that I rode a 250.

Kawasaki makes a couple 900's in the past (they still make the Vulcan 900). It started with the GPZ900 which evolved to the ZX9R and now is the ZX10R as of 2003.

They have no excuse now that I put the 250R badges...kind of tired of people asking me what size it is. Jesus, is that the only question they know?? I tell them it's a 15.25.

It was even better when I would tell those who pretended to be in the know that I had an RC51. They would ask me if it was a dirt bike. WTF.

I can see them mistaking that for a 250R. They probably aren't very motorcycle inclined though lol.

I've got the pregen, and it looks VERY similar to a zx-10. But no one knows the older zx-10, apparently...

I haven't had anyone ask me if it's X cc yet, but I've been asked a few times how many ccs it is. They were all surprised that a 250 looks so much like a bigger sport bike when I answered. As a matter of fact, just today I was at the office where you sign up for the MSF course, and some guy walking out came up to me and asked about it because he's going to get a bike when he passes the course. I gave him a quick tour of the bike and let him sit on it, and he seemed very interested in it. So I gave him the card of my Kawi saleperson and wrote the ninjette link on it. Maybe he'll stop by
