I Hate Street Light Sensors....
most here in central Illinois are the 2 long rectangles, doesn't matter where I stop on them I can only get about half to activate, and forget about activating the ones that you can see where their located. Yesterday had to back up and let a truck get in front of me to activate one.

Laws have been passes in a number of states now that allow motorcyclist to run them with caution.
old article: http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/...ght-laws_N.htm http://qctimes.com/news/local/articl...cc4c03286.html this ones a trip! http://www.legalrecord.net/index.php...k=view&id=5501 I WANT TO CHOKE PEOPLE AGAINST THIS. They should stfu. Seriously!! Do they expect every state to change all of their traffic sensors? Sure just tack it on to the expense of motorcycle registrations right? Crazy people I tell ya, crazy people. in the first article "Doug Hecox, a spokesman for the Federal Highway Administration, said the states should try to find a technical solution to the problem. "We don't necessarily think that empowering motorists to make up their own rules of the road is the safest or best approach," he said" some people have a real problem with change. I've noticed that alot of this type don't like when people without direct power and authority have requests for change and they REALLY dont like when those people get the changes they request. Even when the changes make absolute common sense.

The consensus (from all of the other threads on this) is that the magnets are useless.

What gets me is hearing from some riders around here that they've been pulled over by hidden LEO's after waiting many minutes at a red light only to not have it change. I was on a ride with a few guys and at one of the lights we were at, the lead rider tells me "this is where I got that ticket" It was literally in the middle of nowhere out in the country. We blew the light after a few minutes He took me over to where the trooper was. I asked him what time of day, he says 330...in the morning! I thought to myself that this isnt right. Why would a state trooper hide in that spot at 330 in the AM? It was technically in the middle of the woods. Talking to an older vet rider out here I told him the story. He immeadiately said the exact location before it came outta my mouth. He had the same problem on his Roadking a few years back. He's also from the area and complained that the intersection was in the middle of nowhere and he doesnt think his tax dollars should be spent on BS like this yada yada. Turns out he knew the judge. I will not sit at a red light for more than a few minutes in the middle of the night. If its the middle of the day I'll wait around alot longer. If there are blind corners involved, then don't do it or make a right instead. If the coast is clear, then take it. It comes down to good judgement. Ride safe folks

I'm sure one of these would trip the sensor. And with 1000lbs of pulling force with the magnet pictured below, you could hang your ninjette from the ceiling to save space in the garage. Getting it down would be another story though. |

I pretty sure you can't. Californias laws only required all new traffic lights being installed need to be sensitive enough for cycles.

Those definitely haven't been installed near me... My friends have had a good laugh at me jumping up and down on sensors in protest though

Its kind of a sticky law, but if you sit there for a couple rotations of the lights or been there for like 3+ minutes then your aloud to when deemed safe.

Was out riding the other night and approached a red light. Noticed a cop sitting in a parking lot as I passed. Got to the red and waited for maybe 20 seconds. I look back to see if the cop is still there and I see no lights. He ended up pulling up to the light to make a right and triggered it for me. Nice guy!

A quick Google search tells me this: the IL senate passed the law overwhelmingly about a month ago. It just needs to be approved by the house

:2 tips: put the bike in N and place the kickstand on the censor lines, or shut the bike off and restart it -the censors should pick up the electromagnetic charge caused by the starter-.
