Nope didn't read all of it so you are correct there, simply scanned the comments and performance measureables while in the waiting room (mine hasn't shown up at the door yet) and barring a complete memory fubar, the 650R had marginally better performance figures.

Also "out perform" =/ "lost subjectively" as personal opinion and desired use =/ performance measureables.

That being said having not read the article those may also be an assumption.

but 2 strokes also have none of the technology modern day 1000cc showroom

bikes have like limited slip electronic controls had this idea been

implemented to two stroke the power band although peaky might be a lot more

usable but we will never know since manufacturers stop developing them and

500cc 2 strokes never reached the digital throttle and computerized stuff

modern day 1000cc bikes have Maybe the aprilla 500cc was the most

developed 2 stroke bike

Nah your kinda right, the fz6r barely won, and they did in fact like some things about the 650 more.

Owning a few of the bikes mentioned I would have to say at first I regretted buying my 08 650, the way the handle bars force you to set up into each corner felt very unnatural to me. Solution for me was the V2 sport bars (not the same as clip-ons) which gave me better feedback and riding position. So after a set of Pirelli angels and the V2 sport bars, I was more than satisfied with handling, able to run mid 12s at the local drag strip is enough performance to keep me happy.

More love for the 650r

Just saw a nice black and red one today. I could be swayed towards a Ninja 1000R most definitely. After riding my 09 600rr for the first time tonight, I loved it...but I can't describe how much I still miss my Ebony 250R. So easy to ride while the clip ons are fun but less room for error is felt in everything. I can see why a 650R can become so popular especially for the price point.
