Monthly payments are around $1800/mo

This bike definitely serves its purpose as a commuter. The seat is so much more comfortable, angle and what its made of. The 250's seat feels like wood compared to it. If I want I can sit straight up on the seat, slightly leaned over, or fully tucked. It has an adjustable windshield which is epic. The gauge cluster is awesome. It displays current MPG's, Average MPG's, Range (shows how many more miles you can get out of the tank) A clock (**** YES A CLOCK!!!) And a very accurate fuel gauge. Tucking is pretty comfortable and increases MPG's by 7-10mpg. The bike also has a passing light which is useful for getting drivers attention. The throttle is SOOOO much more responsive compared to the 250; to the point that I'm having trouble shifting smoothly on it lol.

I feel alot more stretched out on the 650 which is nice. Compared to the 250 where I feel very compacted and low to the ground, its not a bad thing but it feels much more aggressive (perfect for the twisties???) The torque and power of this bike is incredible. 6th gear feels like 3rd on 250. Passing on the freeway is incredibly easy now. It has a hell of a lot more power than I need and I'm still afraid to go WOT in 2nd. I'm also getting the same mileage on it that I was getting on my 250, go figure. The bike also has an economy mode which tells you the optimal throttle position for maximum MPGs. Basically if the eco is off then you are using too much throttle, if its on then you are using the 'correct' amount of throttle. The rear seat looks way more comfortable than the 250s so hopefully it won't wear out girls bums before I can get them to my house.

The 650 is quieter than my 250. I have an Area P Quiet Core on my 250 which didnt make the bike too much louder but I can tell the 650 is quieter which is nice. Between 1-3k the bike sounds like the cars from the Jetsons, and I always hear "His boy elroy!" in my head. When engine braking the bike sounds like a turbine powering down, epic.

Racing cars on the street is no longer fun since it's not a challenge. On the 250 they had a chance at beating me, now, theres no competition. Sad. Also riding without heated grips is like sucking a bag of dicks, its a terrible experience, so I ordered a new set along with a relay kit. The fender is ugly, I'll probably chop it off soon. The mirrors are alot smaller than the 250 but they are convex. I no longer can see my elbows, but I also cant see behind me, meh. The bike is raised up off the ground significantly more than the 250 which is kinda more comfortable for me but also feels kinda odd. Also, the angle of the handlebars isn't the same as the 250 so it's taking a little getting used to.

All in all, I love this bike, its been completely redesigned from previous models with a new frame, forks, handlebars, gas tank, gauge cluster, windshield, tires (these tires ****ing rule) engine, and fairings. Also the r has been dropped from 650r which must be the reason that the insurance is so cheap on this bike. I'm paying about $200 less for the same coverage on the 650 compared to the 250r. This bike can be easily converted to a sport touring and will also be super fun in the twisties. I'm really glad I picked the Ninja 650.

That's what I have to pay in order to not pay interest. I'm determined to not pay any interest. Minimum payment would really be like $50 but then I'd be paying it off for 20 years

Yeah interest blows. Anytime you have to pay extra money on something, it just puts you down.

Nice video of the sound comparison.

I think you just sold me on getting the new 650

Oh, I got 35 mpg with the 250 pegged for the majority of the 150 miles of riding to keep up with a 750. full exhaust and stage 2 jet kit. air filter is tad bit dirty

I didn't like the way that they look at first but the 650 and the fz6r have the same looking bar so it really wasn't a factor in my decision. The bars are growing on my and the dealer was telling me how the bars on the 650 are particularly good for something or other but I don't remember what he was saying

The bars are higher up than on the 250 though which is nice. I can sit in a more upright position if I want, tuck down on the tank, or anything in between

It has similar bars so I'd assume it still works with the old setup.

Edit: ninja650shop.com says "fits all years" but doesn't list it for the '12. "All years" may be an old statement.

The appeal of Kawis sportbikes is that you don't have to be hunched over the controls

Yeah, I just kinda want the best of both worlds for my next ride: looks of a 6R, but the engine of a 650.
