Would I be correct...

...in thinking that the Versys is pretty much a 650R, except just more comfortable and a higher seat height?

It also has an aluminum swingarm, and a more refined suspension with inverted forks and adjustable rebound and preload, front and rear. It also has more suspension travel.

It has the same general engine, but tuned (with different cams I think) to give more mid range.

From the looks and mechanical changes I would say it is a totaly different bike.

I have seen them side by side at a Kawasaki open day and they are apart from the motor completely different.

Second in line is the ER6F /650R

Ok, I'm starting to see the differences now.

Think a Versys would do pretty well at a track day?

Looks like a lot of weight above the center line of the wheels to be a good track bike. Especially that ~40 lbs of fuel with a full load.

It might be ok. Could probably stand to be lowered a little bit.
