My Xbox officially died

So I planned on logging into Live to play a friend and my xbox froze. I was thinking it got a little hot, so I used compressed air blew out some dust, then restarted it. Worked fine for about 5-min and did it again. I put a fan on it, no help. Next thing I know, it won't get past the initial boot screen. YAY!

I started to pull components off of it. For a second, it looked like I lost my hard drive. Then it froze again. So I ruled that out.

Time to shell out an additional $200 for a new Xbox. YAY!!! I won't have my cars on Forza, but I can play some older games with no problems. I was going to start FF13 over again anyway...so maybe I'll play that.

At least my console lasted as long as it did. I got my Elite right after the first price reduction. So it has lasted many years.

Red Rings of Death??
About a month back my PS3 died after 5.5 years of hard use, it was the original 60gb launch unit. I called Sony, in the States you pay 99+tax and they either fix it or give you a refurbed one, but not the same model as mine. Then he saw I was in Canada and had to look up the price again, now it came out to a little over 200 total, F that...they were on special for 199 with COD MW2 bundle a few months back.
Doing some research I found a highschool kid on Kijiji that fixed it for 30 bucks and he put in a new fan that made it noticeably quieter....what a deal. F-U Sony

If you don't know how to open it to reflow the GPU, Try throwing the damn thing in the oven and baking it. Try not to melt the plastic. It should last you a couple months but what I would do is trade it into gamestop, they'll be sending to their refurbish center anyways. Good Luck!
