I'm going all-out... narrowed it down to these two...

... leather jackets / upper body protection. I want leather, HEAVY ventilation, and chest protection built-in --> Alpinestars.

I'll be getting these two upgrades for whichever jacket I purchase:

1.) Alpinestars Alloy Mesh/Leather Jacket + A* Bionic Race Back Protector Upgrade + Bionic Chest Pads Upgrade = ~$600

http://stores.sportbiketrackgear.com/Detail.bok?no=4408

1.) Alpinestars SP-1 Perf. Leather Jacket + A* Bionic Race Back Protector Upgrade + Bionic Chest Pads Upgrade = ~$580

The SP-1 is fully perforated on the front and has a perf'ed air hump. The Alloy has perf. front panels and mesh in certain areas for more airflow.

I like the sportier styling on the SP-1 and the additional protection that the small air hump provides.. however, my old Dainese perf'ed black leather jacket still felt too hot for me, so I'm really liking the mesh panels on the Alloy.

kahslghalg.. need to pull the trigger today - would appreciate any feedback.

If you want the ventilation (which I assume is a major issue looking back at your post) then got with the Alloy Mesh/Leather Jacket. You're already bolting an armadillo to your back with that protector, so the little extra protection offered by the air hump won't matter much. That's just my two cents....

mesh.
I have a Shift air avenger. You can still get pretty warm in it. over 35c=102f anything is hot.
I think the mesh/leather would get hot around 30c=92f with air flow

Remember that any jacket gets hot if you don't have any air flow.

Thanks for the feedback guys - I bought the Alloy Mesh/Leather

Both of them are very fitted.. not loose at all (motivation to keep the pounds off)

I'll post some impressions when I get them
