vortex rearsets...... can you make them GP shift?

Title says it all..... went to put on my new vortex rearsets and fussed around with them for a while. I can't seem to find a way to run them in GP shift configuration. If I flip the forward portion of the shifter that mounts on the shift rod w/splines 180 degrees (where the front connecting rod connects) it hits the cover to the countershaft sprocket.

Anybody have a solution to this issue or am I missing something obvious?

I will spend some more time tomorrow assessing it as well.

thanks

Ditch the whole set-up in favor of a solid non-linkage set-up like mine, this one is from a Yamaha TW200. Fits nice, could be 1/4 to1/2 inch shorter...picky picky.
--sorry "bout the ****** cell pic, once the new tip rubber shows up I'll get a nicer one posted up. Maybe I'll post a pic of the Ti shock mount bolt kit as well, hmmmm, can't give up all the secrets

Is there an advantage to GP shift for regular street riding and commuting?

Your toes will have more clearance when you have to upshift (downshift with GP style).

Hey.... thanks for information. I ended up grinding out the cover a bit and now it works well. props to my buddy Chris B.

I use to run standard pattern but after racing a couple of years I switched to GP because certain tracks and gearing configurations have you up shifting while leaned over which I couldn't do in standard config.

I don't think there is any advantage of GP shift for the street except for:

1) All your race bikes are GP shift and you don't want to crash your street machine accidently down-shifting midcorner (don't ask me how I know this)
2) Mind-f__k a bike thief (for at least a few moments)
3) It's like playing a fretless bass.... no-one will ask to "Jam" on your baby once you tell them it has no frets.
