There's a mounting bracket that holds everything to the rear grab bar. After taking off the rear plastic, I just remounted everything to the bracket, then grab bar, then frame. Its all still on there.

So I got some free time this evening and have started the process of making my ninjette worthy of the Franken-Ninjette name. I'm about 3/4 of the way done fabricating a 2:1 exhaust out of the stock on my '06 and an exhaust off of a '10 Ninjette. All I have left is the welding which I'll be be doing tomorrow, so I'll have some pics up by evening.

Overall the process is going much more smoothly than I had anticipated. I've put about 5 hours into it so far, and like I said I'm more than half way there. Not expecting a whole lot performing wise, but it definitely looks better.

Alright. I got it done. Mostly... It has a couple of leaks where I welded the '06 pipes to the New-Gen midpipe. My welding skills leave a lot to be desired. Planning to take it by a muffler/welding shop Monday to see what they could do. Regardless, it runs great and definitely feels like it pulls harder. But maybe I'm biased.

What did you do to get that muffler to work? The headers from the new-gen are smaller diameter than those from the pre-gen, and there's cats in the new-gen headers and mid-pipes that restrict flow. Did you modify your existing headers or the new-gen headers?

I modified my existing headers. Just cut the new gens off where they connect to the midpipe, then cut mine to fit and welded them on. Obviously a bit harder than it sounds, but not all that bad. Where in the new-gen pipes are the cats? I didn't notice any restrictions in the mid pipe, just the collector and then the straight pipe back. The hangers on both the can and the midpipe just bolt on, the midpipe to the bolt for the center stand. I'm hoping there aren't any restrictors insdie the midpipe, I didn't look all that close.

The cats are in the muffler, the y part, and mid-way up the headers, if I remember correctly.

I checked out the pipes and didn't find anything obstructing them. Maybe the previous owner had already pulled it all out at some point. Regardless, my goal was to get the '08+ exhaust on my '06, and it is now complete. So for all those who have wondered if it can be done; with a dremel, some welding skills, and a lot of patience it can. The entire midpipe even bolts right on. I'll get some better looking pictures once it's all back together.

Now I'm just waiting for my Woodcraft clip-ons to come in.

That odd-looking round spot at the "Y" of the new-gen header is used on the Euro and Thai versions as the mounting place for the O2 sensor.

So I kind of forgot that I started this thread. Here are some updated pictures of the bike for anyone interested. I have a round 7" headlight and a koso gauge that'll be going on in the next couple of weeks. I'm wait for some plugs to come in so I don't have to cut any wires for the install.

Yep, they are. They're the '08+ ones, which don't quite swap right onto the pre-gens, but they just needed a couple little tweaks and some washers on the brake side to keep it in the right position.

It has the same bar end mirrors I have, the same smoke lenses, and will have a Koso gauge like mine soon as well. Gah!

Needs some Niteshades VHT on that center lens.

I've been debating the nightshades. I know it'd look neat, but I wear dark gear on a black bike, so I don't know if I'm alright with any extra decrease in visibility.

Here's the essentially finished product. I may grab a few better pics in the daylight. I'm considering repainting it gloss black when I can get enough time in my garage to do it right, and I bought a windscreen off a cb600 that I may put on, mostly to protect the Koso from impacts. Sorry it wasn't much of a build thread, but if anyone is curious how I did something just shoot me a PM.

The Koso gauge. I made some brackets and mounted it to the some boltholes used by the ignition.

The before mentioned brackets

And the front end

you can cut the subframe off of a 2002-2003 r1 and weld it on and use tail fairings of r1 on your bike. i like the tail light, cuz you can do chaser turn signals

@Magz Question.... How did you get the fairing mounts off of the gas tank? I am trying to remove them so I can bondo over that area to have a clean looking tank like yours. I tried hammering them off with a screw driver in between those tabs and the tank but stopped because it seemed like a bad idea. I don't won't to accidentally puncture the tank. Did you use a dremel or what. Thanks!

I just Dremeled off the small part of the tab that was kind of sticking out the front, and the rest was recessed in enough that it was completely covered when I did the putty work.

I'm curious about the wiring. I haven't installed my Koso gauge yet but I already know that the wiring is not at all as the manual suggests. I'm color-blind, so I wouldn't feel comfortable figuring it out myself.

I really like your mounting idea, though I don't really have anything which will work there. It leaves a lot less exposed bracket than strapping scrap perforated strip across the birdcage upper fairing/headlight/mirror stay.

The wiring really wasn't bad. I bought some .110" connectors and and wired it so I could just use the stock plugs. I found the plugs on EBay from China pretty cheap. I'll try and draw it up and post it in the next few days.

A Passive speed sensor from Koso should be able to pickup your rotor bolts without a magnet needed. Either way you'll need some kind of sensor going to one of your wheels.

Passive

The passive sensor can also be used to pickup off of a rotor if the web spacing is equal around it, really anything that is rotating with the wheel that has equal spacing for it to sense can be used.

The included bracket should work though, right? Are you assuming that it wouldn't? AFAIK, the magnets fit inside the rotor bolts... no superglue required. Also, you can balance the wheels with the magnets installed. CycleGear will even do computerized balancing for free.
