Ordering the K&N 0990 filter. The goal is to remove the whole airbox. Im going to move the rectifier and CDI box as well as extend the battery wiring to house it in the tail after I make some sort of aluminum bracket. Going to get a smaller incognito bottle for coolant.

Also ordering some generic clip on that I will mount directly to the forks. If theyre good enough for a bunch of cafe racer builds then I can't see them not doing their job here.

Im going to get an r6 throttle tube and try to figure something out to shorten, neaten, and louden up the exhaust as well.

For the overflow bottle, maybe just 8-12 inches of 2" or 3" round PVC with an end cap on the bottom end, and screw-on for the top. Drill two small holes in the top cap, and push the overflow hose in one of these until its near the bottom. If the white color clashes with your sano styling, then bust out the black paint.

Can fit pretty cleanly against black tube frame and nearly disappear.

Were you still using the OEM style lead-acid battery? If you can spare the change you might look into a LIFO replacement. Prolly save about 7-8 lbs and these are tiny in comparison, can be mounted sideways, and of course your bike will be faster and get like 200 mpg. (JK)

Just spit-balling ideas ...

My goal is to either do the pipe along the frame, or something see thru that I can leave a small "sight glass" to keep tabs on the coolant.

Im also managed to clear out the under seat stuff and will run whatever wiring is still needed under the tank and under the seat.

I would like to get some tygon tubing for the rear brake reservoir and finally purchase the throttle tube. Clip ons and filter will be here next week. Then once the engine is degreased, and valve clearances are checked I will mount it back to the frame

You probably know, but Tygon 2375 seems to be the one they sell for brake fluid. I'd use EPDM tubing if it were mine.

I know they claim that fuel injection line is way up to the task, but being able to see the level is also a big thing. I know a lot of guys run it on their race bikes, and being an ex track guy myself Im very very biased to using front brakes almost all the time. Still no excuses and I do have a ton to research. Any input is appreciated, as I might know some things about some things, but not all things about all things. Keep the input coming.

I wouldn't think fuel injection line would like to be exposed to brake fluid. Do you know what kind of rubber it it?

I read somewhere that carb fuel lines are normally neoprene, which doesnt react negatively with brake fluid. Again I read it on the internet so it HAS to be true

I wonder if Galfer could provide you with a proper piece of hose? I have their braded lines on my Ninja.

Compatibility charts aren't hard to find: http://www.efunda.com/designStandard...=Brake%20Fluid

The "ethylene propylene" rubber shown is very similar to EPDM.

Clip ons came in. Just generic 36mm metal clip ons that I plan on mounting under the upper triple. It will be a more aggressive riding position but Ive come to terms with it. Also I will be selling my woodcraft clip ons that I had on the bike if anyone is interested.

Looking to get a keyless gas cap, anyone have any suggestions, and if anyone has any idea on how I can do an ignition relocate that would be awesome help. I have a loose idea on how to piece it together but I feel like I might to be able to see it better with some outside help.

I bought one on eBay or Amazon this past spring but I don't have the manufacturer. There are tons of them out there. Mine is all CNC machined aluminum and was made in California.

Ive seen all the gas caps on ebay, and Im probably going to go with a black one that fits. I ask because a friend of mine had an issue with one, but we thing it was more because of the tank itself had some issues.

Yes made in CA and shipped by either eBay or Amazon. I even spoke to them by phone after the purchase to complement them for making a finely crafted product. I could fire you a photo of it and since you seem interested I'll see if I can find it on an internet search. I think I paid in the vicinity of $35.00 for it. Some are selling for 80-90 dollars. I'll check my check register to see if I have any additional info.

I looked at my checking account register and found the pay pal transaction and then located the eBay listing.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1988-2007-K...item2ee8e8ca7d

It's a very nice looking gas cap. I installed mine with stainless steel Allen head cap screws - looks slick! It has a nice "O" ring seal on it too.

Note the seller's location - it ain't Shanghai

Oh, almost forgot. I have a 2007 250 Ninja.

Installed the new clip ons, they sit under the triple and are much more aggressive. Should make for quite the experience.

Also removed the swingarm and suspension pivot section to clean and regrease it all.

A very clean Ninja 300 rear shock

It sits and looks different than your typical ninja, that may be good or bad, we shall see. The plan for this week is to clean up the engine some more and check valve clearances.

Not much new to report. Received the new filter and installed it. It looks great, it almost makes it look like a performance engine HAHA.

I also ordered a new keyless gas cap and will head over to home depot to get some new bolts for that as well, since mine are very rusty. Also ordered a motion pro clutch cable since that is corroded inside as well.

Hoping to clean up the engine grime, and do the valve clearances if needed soon. But at this point who knows when that will be, since Im swamped.

Good move on the Motion Pro cable! I don't believe they lubricate it when they manufacture it - be SURE to do so. And get those nice carbs off the concrete!

Make no mistake, it is a performance engine. A stock 250 making mid 30s crank HP is not very common.

ANY engine that makes 2 H.P./C.I. is not very common. The turbo Offy produced over 6 H.P./C.I.

That's why I cringe when posters refer to the little Ninja engine as "disposable".

It's disposable in the sense that it's cheaper to buy another engine than to rebuild one. That's really the definition of disposable. It has nothing to do with quality or performance.

A 2-stroke H2 engine, on the other hand, is cheaper to rebuild than to buy one ready to run, so as primitive as it is, it's not disposable.

I hear you. But a used engine is a 50/50 proposition. You could spend a fair amount of time and money swapping engines and after 1,000s mile do it all over again. Since my Ninja is a keeper and probably my last bike I'd rebuild knowing it was done correctly.

And then I rebuilt my Chrysler 360 van engine and ended up with about $1,800 in machining and parts, only to find I could buy a rebuilt one with a warranty for something like $1,300. As you said, I know that every bearing and piston clearance and cam lift and duration number is correct though. But if I had to do it again, I'd get the rebuilt engine. A racing application would be different.

A racing application would be different.
For your sake I hope to God it wasn't a front wheel drive. I would like to escape this earth without having THAT experience.

I can't think of a Chrysler product that had a 360 V-8 in a front wheel drive vehicle, but maybe there was one.

I completely never got any of this notifications. Good thing tho, Ive been home sick with a cold.

And I didnt mean to offend anyone, just a bit of a change for me, in terms of ride from my Speed Triple and the other sport bikes Ive owed. But as they say its always more fun to ride a slow bike fast.

I've certainly taken no offense at anything you've ever posted on this board.

I didn't realize that until about 5 years or so ago. Now I can't get enough of my DT100 road racer and my Ninja 250.

I would walk away from ANY front wheel dive engine swap. I still have scars on my arm from changing the spark plugs on an 88' Coupe DeVille. What am I driving? A front wheel drive Pontiac Montana - Gawd!!!
