No, you didn’t read that headline wrong.*Harley-Davidson*will reveal its Street line of motorcycles to the US market at the*X Games*today with an ice racing exhibition. While exciting, the winter X Games have clearly been lacking one thing – motorcycles – and the Motor Company has joined with*ESPN*to bring ice racing to mainstream audiences. What could be a better way to introduce the*Street 750*to a young, adventure sports-focused market to the Harley line designed by and for them?

Taking Harley-Davidson’s first all-new motorcycle platform in 13 years and using it to promote an exciting event as a potential medal event in future X Games is fabulous marketing. Getting special coverage of the exhibition video on ESPN tonight and providing an opportunity for fan response raises the introduction of the sport and the motorcycle to the level of genius.

2013 GNC Brad Baker recently beat Marc Marquez in the Superprestigio, and now he’s racing Harley Street 750s on the ice – at the X Games. Not bad work if you can get it.


From January 23–26, X Games attendees in Aspen, CO will be able to go to the Fan Zone to meet reigning*AMA Pro Grand National champion*and Harley-Davidson Factory Flat Track Team rider*Brad Baker, AMA Pro star*Jared Mees*(winner of the 2012 AMA Pro Grand National Championship), and his wife and fellow AMA Pro flat track racer*Nichole Mees. On display will be the Harley-Davidson Dark Custom Street 750s with ice screw encrusted tires that were the trio’s mounts for demonstration video shown on ESPN tonight.

True to the spirit with which the Street line was designed, the race fans will get to decide if ice racing becomes an official, medal-earning X Games 2015 event. Dino Bernacchi, Director of North American Marketing Communications, Harley-Davidson Motor Company said, “The attitude and capabilities of the Street were influenced by thousands of young adults in cities around the world. So while we think ice racing is hardcore, it’s only fitting that Harley-Davidson is having extreme sports fans around the world help decide the X Games fate of the sport.”

on a more serious note, harley doing something cool? damn that's pretty awesome I don't particularly like the styling of the new bikes a change is very welcome. Hopefully harley pulls a ford and starts making appealing vehicles to me like the focus st and the new mustang (independent suspension at last)
