I'll go first.

power went off last night around 7pm. then we heard a truck had run off the road and 6 poles was down. so much for the house staying cool, so we took the truck out for a dirt road drive. storms was building up quickly, we got out to a spot i like to stop at. no houses for miles, nothing but kaolin open pit mines nearby. so my wife and I are sitting with the truck off, windows down watching a nearby thunderhead grow. lightning popping around. the sun was setting, orange in the sky against the closer blackish blue storm clouds. you could feel the air pressure changing, smell the rain in the air. about then, a straight line wind hit us, woofed through the trucks windows, rocked the truck a little side to side. felt like about 45 mph or a little higher. then we heard some timber falling in the pine forest beside the road. my hair stood up and we peeled out of there. lol got home and power was restored. oh yeah!!

our lead tech, he is master tech in Mack Trucks, he mis-quoted a repair. somehow he didnt see the one inch wide crack in a flywheel housing. boss reamed him out, and instead of admitting he messed up, he got all butt0hurt and called out today. i felt sorry for him, so i made him a giant pair of eyeglasses to wear. so he can see the problem next time. lol. cant wait for monday, he is going to be mad. lol
pic of the storm last night. and a picture of the glasses

Ride on over to southern Georgia. We have nice storms. Nothing that compares to the Midwest. They have storms so big, makes you want to stay inside.

Intense, lightning, thunder, I love it. Maybe not so happy about hail or tornadoes, but the regular storm stuff is awesome.

I agree. The shear power of a storm to me, is really amazing. So many things in our lives we see are truly beautiful.

This time of year we have evening thunderstorms just about every day. We don’t always get rain but you can here the thunder in the distance.

Whew, glad it's Friday. My tail is dragging today. And I got to make a dog food run, so looks like it's a four wheel kinda day. Insert frowny face here.

Yeah, my four-wheel day is tomorrow. Early day, long day, coming home at 1am or later on a weekend night... prime drunk-driver time. So cage it is.

Had the day off and it's supposed to rain for about the next week, so I decided to make my annual pilgrimage to Abbott's Lobster In the Rough in Groton for a bowl of broth-based chowdah and a half-pound hot lobster roll.

Expensive but SOOOO worth it. Amazing stuff and the place is a one-of-a-kind institution.

This is one of a few destinations I try to hit each summer. Another is the Sycamore Drive-In in Bethel, CT, for a Dagwood burger (like nothing I've ever had elsewhere, and another unique place). Haven't done that one yet.

Anyone else have a traditional ride they try to do each year?

Fountain pens! I'm very picky about what pens I use. Husband has his own pens because he hates my fountain pen or half my other ones. I carry pens for myself, and one or two that are sort of "disposable" that if someone borrows and doesn't return, I won't cry.

Mine's a Padrino. My only issue is that I don't write things down often enough to keep the ink flowing properly. And it bleeds through the paper in my journal, so I have other pens that I use for that which don't go through.

U tube has lots of ink reviews and they discuss bleeding through the paper. I really like the ink bottles.

Not a fan of gel either. It’s water based ink. I do like ball point pens for receipts and slippery surfaces.

There are a few ballpoints I will use if I have to. I prefer the gel inks, given any option.

I'll have to check out different inks for the fountain pen.

I really like blue ink. But am thinking about getting some different colors. Make sure you only get fountain pen ink. Calligraphy ink will clog a fountain pen

Yes, I have nibs for the calligraphy ink. Thicker consistency than the fountain pen ink.

My preferred ink color is purple. I know, you're surprised, right? I will also use green. I'll use blue or black if I really have to but rarely for myself. Purple gel ink, and as fine a point as I can get.

I worked with a guy for a couple years. Great guy, super nice and seemed normal. One day the boss who was a weird guy wrote a to do list for us. My coworker was reading the list and suddenly went off. He was upset about some of the things on the to do list so I was like what ever. THEN he starts yelling “ and he used blue ink. He knows how blue ink makes me angry!!!”
I’m like O K ???
