Emulator Adapters

I take it that the issue is the 300's damper piston is 1mm larger O.D. so the step in the bottom of the emulator doesn't fit tight. The image of the adapter shows a plain steel sleeve that would seem to fit the emulator step but has no step of its own. That would seem to allow it to slide to the side atop the damper and rub inside the fork tube. Someone stated they weren't needed and Race Tech implied they were just to make a better seal against the damper piston. Anyone have ideas or images? $20 for a pair of those are a bit much.

i believe I was the one. i put the adapters in . thier nothing really amazing. its not some sort of precision fit. if i remember, on some dampner rods there could be a problem.

I just reread your post about adapters and b4 you talked to RT you inferred the dampers had no piston rings. How would they seal against the tube wo rings? I haven't opened mine up yet but even the parts drawing seems to show them. Did they fit into the recess in the damper piston or would they ride against the tube wall? Did the emulator fit in the I.D. or just sit on top? Other models of adapters seem to have sealing rings. Also the pricey Italian emulators have sealing rings. Guess I'll be making my own adapters. P.S. I found a page from R.T. explaining adapters for the various types of damper rods.
