The maintenance schedule and service specs are in sticky threads at the top of the tech section. Far as I know, there isn't a separate schedule for those who "only use their bikes to get around". It goes by mileage. Many of the more minor services are really that, pretty minor, and a number of folks on this board do much of their own service both to save some cash and also to learn more about their bikes. The first minor service is at 600 miles, the next at 4K, and the first service I'd describe as major is at 7.5K, as it requires a valve check/adjustment.

you got a manual with your bike...there is a section on scheduled maintenance...if you are not speeding the scheduled intervals will be longer

This is one of the better threads I have read in a long time. One question per post. No search required, some of the most interesting questions, and no flaming.

If I only knew the answers I would help.

Oscar, Incidentally, that`s my middle name, you really have your act together and it appears that you have been around motorcycles a long time. You give good advice and I look forward to your responses.
