What do you normally do...

on Father's day weekend?!

Do you ride or spend time with family? (this question mainly to try and keep the thread in general motorcycling )

Or people of the North East USA could join us for the 250 rally this weekend.
http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=17061

Not sure how many people actually check the group rides sub-forum so here I am with some shameless advertising...

LOL four adds for this ride! Keep it up!

Normally, if I lived near my dad, we would go fishing. Such a dad day thing to do. But as I live across the country now I send him a card and call him. Though next week I will see him! So excited!

Because we live with Phil's dad we have taken him to dinner last year. He has medical problems so we generaly don't plan anything exaughsting. Outback seems to be his favorite.

Everyone on the ride can say HI to my dad. He is hanging out peacefully right outside of Harrisburg on a hill over looking the Susquehanna River.

My dad and I don't get along. So, that's pretty much answer the question.

My parents live about 2300 miles away... I have no family here so holidays are very quiet and spent doing normal stuff I do every day. My husband has no family here either... just his mom, sister (in SoCal), and his dad (parents are divorced).

This Father's Day I'll probably be doing stuff around the house, packing for LA at the end of the week, getting the Spyder cleaned up, and weeping because I won't have my Ninja back from the shop to ride.

LOL!! Thanks. I am having the insurance company re-issue the claim check to me and I am just going to do the work myself -- now that I know I can do that. Wish I would have known this 2 weeks ago...

At least I have the Spyder to ease the pain....

believe me, I understand, but you need to look ahead to the day when he might not be around to fight with. as good as a thought that might be to you right now, I can assure you that as you get older, you will regret not making amends while your father was alive. ask me how I know.

change begins with that guy that looks back at you in the mirror every morning when you wake up.

Ever since my brother passed away in 1983 i've been trying hard to replace the empty space in the family. He almost disowned me when i got my trucker's licence and ended up in the hospital with pancreatitis cause he worried about losing me soo much. I then made a deal with him. Ever since i got the ninja i thought i was in for a fight but its like were pals now. He helps me with the mods that i attempt to do and give me ideas. Trust me I feel much better that he is talking to me and has finally accepted me for who i am. Maybe he just feels sorry that i don't have a special someone around.

For the past five years, Father`s Day weekend has been devoted to riding the Trek Across Maine. This is a 187 mile bicycle ride done in three days--about 65 miles a day through some very hilly country. It is for a good cause--The American Lung Association. I have been training for this event all winter and sm rerady to kick some ---. This year we will have 2600+ riders, which makes this the biggest cycling event in the US---possibly the world. They are predictig two days of rain---my advantage. I do my best riding in the rain. Also have greqt rain tyres-- Fortezza SE. Am really feeling strong. Wish me luck--this year the course looks exceptionly challenging.

I live about 9,000 miles away from my father (trivia: the maximum possible distance between any two cities on the globe is 12,500 miles). It takes about 7-10 days for mail to reach, if at all it makes it. So I will just video-chat with him and ask him to visit me!

My father lives in California so I just give him a call and thank him for teaching me right from wrong. He is 85 so I always worry that I will get a call that he has passed.

Alex in Maine. I just came back from a short bicycle ride around town and boy am I out of shape. I'm spending too much time on the 250 and I suspect the old Peugeot bicycle is jealous this spring. How do you find time for both?

Also it sounds like a wonderful ride to train for. Have lots of fun.

I don't know. I hear that the speed somehow reduces when traveling under water. Plus there are no gas station under the Atlantic...

Same as lockie's question how do you find time for both. Since i've gotten my ninja my workouts have suffered and i have to buy new clothes as i've gained 5 lbs already

Maybe i should discipline myself and tell myself i am not allowed on the ninja until i have done some exercise.

I always do my exercises first thing when I get home from work or first thing in the morning and then I ride afterwards.

Maybe I should keep the Ninja in a garage 5km away so I'll have to bike over and back every day. I do miss the bicycle but not as much as missing a daily ride on the Ninja. (sigh) Such is life.
