Looking to upgrade...

...to an 08 or 09 250.

Anyone else jump from a pregen to the newer? Besides the styling, the number of mods and aftermarket parts are just too appealing.

And besides, I'm way too poor to put up for a 600.

What was that joke recently? Something about a pig in lipstick? I think the moral of the story was that after all is said and done......

...its still a pig.

I love my 250 for what it is. When I'm ready to move to a super sport, I will want a bike that looks like one, not a bike that tries to look like one.. until you spot the feeble single front break rotor

Even though they're both kawasaki 250s, they feel and ride very different.

+1. When I was teaching my buddy who bought my 06 how to ride it felt like a totally different machine.

And more impressions here:

Grab a big handful of the feeble front brake and tell me what happens! Yes, you can do it in a straight line.

Pssshhh..... What's wrong with a pregen? Personally, the only way I would get a new gen is to have both. Switching between the two isn't an upgrade or downgrade in my mind. I agree to disagree with you guys.

Going from an '01 to an '09 I felt there was more than just the cosmetic changes.

The '09 sits a little higher and you will naturally hug the tank a little more than the '01. The handling was were I immediately felt the biggest differences. I remember thinking after my first ride - "all I have to do is think turn and this thing carves a turn".

It wasn't until after I had broken the '09 in that I could also find out that there seemed to be more torque from mid to upper range.

The weights are almost the same but the '09 just feel lighter to me than the '01 did.

I'm sure there is more but that's about all this novice butt could feel right now.

I like my '08, but if you have a pregen the difference isn't worth selling the old one at a loss and then forking out the extra cash.
