Gas gauge
Some reason the tank can be full but the gauge only reads 1/4 tank. Are there know problems with the units? Any thoughts? Are the sending units easy to replace?? I already have the tank off and empty.

The fuel gauge is a common issue on these bikes. If the sending unit goes bad, I'm not sure there is a fix other than replacement.

Thanks Alex, that's both good and bad to know. Good, that it's not something that I did and bad that it happens.

Just reset your odometer every time you fill up your tank. I usually fill up around 200 miles on a tank, but I nearly always have almost a gallon left. I'm pussy though and don't want the inconvenience of running out of gas.

Does anyone know what the range of resistance is for a good sending unit?? Mine reads 2-3 ohms to 95 ohms on the multimeter.

According to the service manual, the sensor should read 4-10Ω when full and 90-100Ω when empty.
