Replacing stock tubes with clear tubes?

Just wondering if anyone has ever replaced their fuel line or any others tubes on their 250 with clear tubes? I'm hesitant to do it because I'm not entirely sure if the rubber tubing the 250 uses is treated or made in a way that you can't get with tubing from the store.

You need to use fuel-rated hose. Clear vinyl tubing will deteriorate, crack, and leak.

Vintage bikes used to come with transparent fuel tubing.
Gasoline and UV light made them brittle after a few months.
They were useful to see if you were properly priming your carburetor before starting.

I believe that fire prevention in case of accidents led to the vacuum activated petcock and gasoline reinforced neoprene tubing.

Tygon transparent tubing is used for small gasoline engines (silicon for alcohol engines).

Copied from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tygon

"There are several formulations of Tygon that are used in industrial applications.

Tygon Fuel and Lubricant Tubing F-4040-A is translucent yellow for positive identification and flow monitoring. It is used in small engine fuel lines, recreational vehicles, and lubrication lines.

Tygon LP1000 is a low permeation California Air Resources Board (CARB) rated small engine fuel line and Tygon LP100 is a low permeation United States Environmental Protection Agency approved material also used in small engines.

Tygon R-3400 UV Resistant Tubing is black in color and opaque. It remains flexible in ultraviolet (UV) environments and is often used for electrical insulation, ink and adhesive dispensing, and fertilizer and pesticide dispensing. Because it is resistant to UV light, ozone and weathering, it is commonly used in outdoor applications.

Tygon 2075 Ultra Chemical Resistant Tubing is a plasticizer-free material that is known for its high degree of chemical resistance. It can be used in ink and printing fluid dispensing, paint and solvent production, and is resistant to MEK and other chemicals. When properly incinerated it releases only carbon dioxide and water."

I tried the clear hose from Home Depo for my cooling system. It gets hard turns white and was not it.
I have used the clear hose with white nylon string as fuel line for years. It is from motion pro.
Now I use black rubber and 6 an fittings. That is great because it it easy to remove.
