How-to remove shifter peg?

I bent the shifter peg inwards about a 1/2 inch in a standstill drop, but I'm having a hard time bending it back out. I was thinking maybe it'd be safer to remove it to bend it back. What would I have to do to remove it?

If I remember correctly, all you have to do is take out the huge button head screw holding it in. You will then have to remove the other half of the shift linkage by taking the cotter pin/screw all the way out, and sliding it off the splined shaft. You can take apart the linkage, but if you're shifting is fine, I'd take the whole thing off.

You could also use a wrench similar to this video to get some additional leverage to slowly bend it back out some. Use the closed end over the shifter and pull it as needed.

You're gonna have to take the left fairing off to undo the screw holding the shift linkage to get the peg completely off

Sorry sir but I'm pretty sure you don't have to remove the fairing. A 10mm wrench will remove that bolt with ease and no fairing removal.

I don't see how that's possible unless you have a tiny wrench.
The 10mm bolt sits about 1cm away from the fairing for me

Are we talking about the same bolt I posted above?

I think we need pics... My guess is he is referring to the part that touches your foot. If that is true, take the shifter off the bike put it into a vice and pound it back with a sledge hammer. Its pretty simple to take the shifter off. Its just an allen wrench to take the pivot bolt off. Then back off the set nut on the linkage arm and rotate the shifer off of the linkage arm.

The easiest way to remove it is to take out these 2 bolts. If you remove the adjuster then you will have to set that back up during re-installation. Removing the 2 I outlined in the pictures leaves the setting the same as long as you line up the 2 alignment marks on the shifter shaft when you put in back together. It's 2 tiny circles that is punched in both the silver shaft and also in the painted shifter.

Thanks for the replies and sorry about the confusion. The picture dubojr1 posted looks like it should work. When I was looking at the damage the first time, I didn't notice the allen wrench slot on the end of the yellow arrow. Looking at it a second time, it looks like it should be easy. Just have to make sure I put everything back on in the same angle as I take it off. In the pic below you can see the shifter peg hits the mini-piston like piece when going into and out of first gear.

It's part of a quick-shifter kit I had installed. http://www.flatshifter.com/flat-shifter-pro/. My bike is set up to be able to do clutchless shifts. Can still shift normally as well. When I shift w/o using the clutch the engine gets cut off for a split second and allows the "magic" to happen. Not really sure about the specifics. In my limited riding so far, the upshift works really well as long as it's revving above 5k. Have not tried any aggressive clutchless downshifting.

Thanks again for the info everyone. Finally found the time to work on it this morning and it looks like I managed to fix it all without breaking anything. There is now just enough clearance to go into and out of first w/o rubbing on anything and it seems to shift gears just fine.
