Picked up my first gear today....

Went to my local motorcycle shop to pick up some replacement bolts and well nuts for my windshield. I had some of the well nuts just fall apart after I plasti-dipped it yesterday. While I was there I got to looking at some of their gear and decided I needed to get some. I had thought about getting some from the beginning, but was fighting my wife tooth and nail due to the cost involved. I finally decided, "It's better to ask for forgiveness than permission" and did it for my own safety. Picked up a pair of the Icon Victory Kevlar lined jeans with knee protection and the Icon Accelerant leather jacket. I'll have to upgrade my foot wear and gloves at a later date, but I felt much better on my bike today in case of an accident. I bought a helmet the day I picked up my bike from the dealership. I always ride with my helmet and now I'll always ride with the above items.

What kind of insurance policy does your wife have on you?

seriously.

What kind of wife tells you not to have safety gear? Maybe show her a hospital bill from someone who didn't have gear...

I was pretty pissed at her honestly and she knows when I get mad, I'm going to spend money. She's a sweet girl and I love her to death, but she focuses on money too much at times and that's her only shortfall. This was one of those times.......

Well in this case I'm glad you went around your wife's wishes and if you do crash or have an off your bike experience I'm sure you'll BOTH be glad that you're protected. Get some nice over the ankle boots and gauntlet gloves and you'll be set! Especially gloves if you don't have a good pair, those are the first things to hit the ground a lot of times. (I've crashed 5 times...this year. I know what I'm talking about. Gear. Glorious gear. Wear all of it haha.)
