[visordown.com] - Hybrid SilentHawk military concept bike wins award

A TECHNOLOGY firm has won an award for its hybrid-electric concept bike designed to be used by the military.

Logos Technologies were awarded by DARPA (Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency) to support the development of its SilentHawk motorcycle.

According to the firm, the two-wheel drive SilentHawk would allow small military teams to move long distances quickly and stealthily across harsh enemy terrain.

The concept bike is based on Californian manufacturer Alta Motors’ existing RedShift MX electric motorcross bike, but would use a ‘multi-fuelled’ hybrid-electric power system built by Logos Technologies.

Wade Pulliam, Manager of Advanced Concepts for Logos Technologies, said: ‘Quiet, all-wheel drive capability at extended range in a lightweight, rugged, single-track vehicle would support the successful operations in extreme terrain conditions and contested environments,’

‘An innovative design approach, including a unique field-swappable power system concept, will allow unprecedented customisability of the bike,’ added Pulliam.
