starting problem

Hey guys,

I just bought a 2011 250 with about 5000 miles on it. I started it and rode it a few miles in the neighborhood, turned it off, locked it, and went in for the night. I went to start it today, and it goes to the on position, clutch in, neutral, kickstand up, kill switch off, hit the starter and... no response what so ever.

Any suggestions?

Do any of the lights turn on? Do you hear a click when you hit the starter?

Welcome to the site, Mike !

Is it possible that your battery was drained down during the night for some reason, like leaving the key on?

Check the volts of your battery and charge it overnight with less than 1 amp.

Whenever one of my bikes won't start whether it be from a weak battery or sitting to long and having some partially clogged jets I always try a push start since it is simple. Try a push start see if you can get it to run. For first gear go at least 5mph, for 2nd or 3rd gear (easier) go at least 8-10mph

Looks like we're gonna have to try to pop the clutch and roll the bitch.

I'm heading over Mike's house later this afternoon to check it out, as I just sold this bike to him a few days ago. I never had any sort of issues with it, and kept it on a battery tender over the month or so I stored it this past winter. So I'll give it a once over and see whats going on, my bet is probably a drained battery.

It turned out to be a dead battery as Mike suspected. We bump started it and he was good to go, he rode off as I was leaving to go home.

Nice. Let it sit on a trickle charge for a good long while, and you'll be good to go.
