Milky Oil??
Hey there,
I changed my oil yesterday went for a short ride around the block and I check the level to find that it looks a little milky. Now its only 45- 50 degrees here but is that normal? I checked my coolant and it is not low and still green as always. What gives? Thanks in advance for all your help- Robert |

Did any water get in the oil?

I've heard that even if a slight amount of water gets into the oil it can cause a milky / bubbly reaction to occur. Just something to keep in mind.

Milky oil is not unusual when the weather gets cold. Running the engine at its normal temperature solves the problem. It usually happens when the bike is used for short hops in the cold.
The Ninja is notoriously cold blooded so it takes a while to get up to operating temperature. I did not experience that problem as much when I switched to Synthetic Oil--Rotella T-6

OK Update. I took it out for about 20 miles and now its looking fine no more milk. So does that mean that it was related to cold? What a good ride.. Freezing can't feel my fingers

Yep..just condensation on the inside of the sight glass...it wouldn't be fall if someone didn't ask that at least once on any given motorcycle forum. You can drain a little oil to make sure, or what you did...take it on a ride and re-check to see that it was just condensation.
