There's lots of info out there.
http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Exhaust http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Yoshimura_Full_Exhaust Not updated to include the Area P. So if you have any questions about that, you should probably ask. I've never seen it mentioned whether you have to remove the center stand, or the pipe to change your oil. Maybe someone could chime in on that. If you don't feel like getting raped on a new exhaust, lurk on ebay for a week. I got a muzzy stainless used for $175. |

Muzzy has not only the carbon or stainless, but also round or oval for stainless. Carbon only comes in oval. I've run all 3:
Round stainless w/out quiet core Oval stainless with and w/out quiet core Oval carbon w/quiet core The quiet core is not really a good name, but it does quiet it down a bit. The AreaP looks decent enough but at 100+ more than the muzzy, not such a great deal. You lose the cetner stand with the Muzzy You can pay extra $$ and buy an adapter bracket for the AreaP to keep your center stand If you can find a Yosh 2:1 you get to keep your center stand, but you lose access to your oil filter - gotta remove the pipe to do a change I've run everything except the AreaP. For my money, I'd go with the Yosh if you can find one in good condition. I liked the sound of it the best, and it was "quieter" than the Muzzy in any configuration. If you go with the Muzzy, spend the extra $35 or so to get the quiet core - your neighbors will appreciate it. |

IMHO, I would leave the exhaust stock.
What are you hoping to gain from the aftermarket exhaust? As any Ninjette rider will tell you, aftermarket exhaust, even WITH a rejet, will net you very little in the way of HP gain. I had a set of Two-Brother's slip-ons on my 2001 250, and it was ridiculously loud and annoying. I had those pipes on my bike for about 3 weeks, at which point I decided to sell them and go back to stock. I ride with earplugs ALL THE TIME, and even so, the Two-Brother's were obnoxious. For me, the fun part of riding this bike is being able to go nipping around everywhere at 13-14,000 RPM and not having a single soul bat an eye. With aftermarket pipes, everybody within a 3 to 5 mile radius will be able to hear you. To each his own, though.
