Front brake issue.

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum (and to the bike world for that matter.) I'm helping a friend of mine fix his bike (2009 250R) He had a woman hit him in a parking lot (pretty funny in heinsight) and it caused a decent amount of damage. The main thing is the dealer told him he has a bent fork, so he isn't driving it at the moment.

I'm very mechanically capable (as I work on all my cars myself) but like I said, this is the first bike I will be working on. I was driving it around my yard today and noticed that the front brakes fade really badly. Meaning, while sitting still the lever is very tight and the brakes work great. But when you move around a little, they're almost non-existent untill you pump them a few times. Could this be something as simple as needing to be bled? I did notice ONE tiny bubble in the little window of brake fluid.

Also, what is the best way to determine if the fork is infact bent?

Any help would be greatly appreciated..
Mike

p.s. If I'm asking stupid questions that are answered elsewhere, feel free to let me know.

First, it sounds like the disk is bent. Check it for run-out.

The best way to check for bent forks is to remove them. Roll the tubes on a flat surface to check for straightness.
