Arrow The Motorcycle Safety/Danger Conundrum

By David L. Hough

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

"You’ve probably heard the latest statistics on the safety/danger of motorcycling-- that on average, a person in the USA is 35 times more likely to die driving a motorcycle than when driving a car, mile for mile. On the other hand, many of us have managed to ride for hundreds of thousands of miles without any fatal crashes. Our personal experiences don’t seem to match the danger level indicated by the statistics. So we’re a little suspicious that there’s something wrong. What’s really going on? And what do the numbers mean to you or to me personally?"

it all starts with that thing between the ears.

How well can your brain process the environment is where it starts.
How willing you are to play by the rules of the road.
How you read traffic.
How you predict what traffic is going to do.

ButtHurt warning:

Some people do not belong on motorcycles, some people do not even belong on public roads.
