Looked through this thread multiple times...

Has anyone weighed and compared the Vrossi to the OEM rims?

Front vs front
Rear vs rear etc..

Im sure they weigh more, but how much more is what im really curious about.

Sweet looking rims for sure!

Does anyone in the US have a set they are willing to part with? I'm unfortunately only going to be in MA for 2 weeks to work on the bike (that's where its at) and I need to go back to Alaska for work. (where I have my 13' 636) I would order some from you now but if they are taking 7-8 weeks that's a little far out for my needs.

I'm gonna try to document the stuff I'm doing to the bike, but the 250 I have is basically a show piece only. I rode it for the first 800 miles then went a little nutso turning it into something to gawk at and now I just take it to local car/bike shows, originally bought for the wife and when we got divorced I got to keep it ^_^

me and a few of the boys in Alaska on our 600s/1000s

Finally got mine together with some nice Diablo Rosso IIs on (120/60/17 front; 150/60/17 rear) I can't say anything bad about them, I love them.

I actually swapped the old suspension on its entirety and replaced it with a New Gen suspension.

Hi I have a question to those who received their rims. When the rims were delivered to you did they come in a box surround by a wooden crate? or was the wooden crate removed? or was it just the a box with the rims aside?

How was the packing in the box? enough to protect the rim?

The reason I am asking is because customs is holding my rims because the wooden crate surrounding the rim box is lacking a universal code stamp on it. They can remove the wooden crate but will not be held liable for any damages to the rims

I need to know if the box on its own is enough to protect the rims in transit

Here's a photo of the box in the crate. Each rim was wrapped in plastic and a piece of cardboard was sandwiched between the rims. The crate carries the weight of the rims.

Perhaps you can pick them up from customs instead?

It's not going to be that simple, the package is being held in Vancouver and I am located in Toronto. To get the package through, the canadian harbour inspection will need to remove the wooden crate because it does not comply with regulations. They sent me pictures of the package and the box doesnt look like it will protect the rims much. To make matters worse the inspection agency is not willing to reinforce the package for me and is actually wanting me to send them bubble wrap to secure the package so they can send it through (I dont even know if the bubble wrap will protect the rims)

So there is no one in canada that has ever ordered the rims then? I cant be the first to do so? I guess I will need to mail the inspection agency the bubble wrap and not risk getting the rims damaged then

any other suggestions by chance?

Sucks to hear about the shipping issue. Hope you get your rims soon. I on the other hand have not received my rims at all. Its been just a little over three months and nothing! I email Andy twice asking him to please track them or contact the shipping company and he hasn't replied. Now I'm wondering if my rims are being held up at customs as well. Did customs call you? How did you find out? Has anyone heard of Andy at all? I WANT MY RIMMSSSS!

Hey ALOPEZ78,

The port harbor customs mailed me a letter about the held package. I sent them bubble wrap to in case the rims in and supposedly there were release from customs last week Friday but I haven't received them yet. Im getting a little concerned now and to make matters worse the custom agent told me that the tracking on the item will be messed up since it has been held for so long (almost 3 weeks). I hope I get the rims soon and hope that they are not bent or marred.

You should continue to email Andy about your rims - 3 months is a long time. My rims hit Canada customs approx 2 months 3 weeks then held for almost 3 weeks by customs. Maybe you can check the tracking number on USPS's website, it may show up there? I'm sorry I don't know what else you can do except to wait it out my friend

Best of luck with your rims

Just get back from offshore after staying for almost 2 months on Gas platform for major maintenance. sorry to hear all the shipping & custom issue. unfortunately nothing much I can do to help you guys on this issue. as most of the package shipped out smoothly via http://www.posindonesia.co.id/ I'm trying to avoid this kind of issue but it's out of my capability sometimes to guarantee the package reaching your address.

Andy

Andy! There you are. I'm pretty sure we all understand how shipping works and the limitations you have after the package is shipped. But what you can do is at least provide us with a tracking number, a phone number, the name of the shipping or some kind of information so that if we do run into issue we can investigate ourselves. As I've stated above, here I am 3 months later and I still have no rims and I dont have a clue where to start looking. So as our vendor I feel it's your obligation to provide that info or offer insurance.

Andy

I finally got my rims delivered to me today. Thank you!!!!

They are in perfect condition!!!! I do have a question though, the bearings and sprocket from the 2013 ninja 300 is the same with the 2013 ninja 250 so it would be a direct swap then? Also I was intending on using just the rear rim only so would a 160/70/ R17 tire clear or should I replace both front and rear rims and tires?

Thanks again

I'm very happy to hear that you received your package at last

Yes it is direct swap, I do not recommend you to use bearing and bush which come with vrossi package, as it's inferior in quality. Instead, you can re-use your existing OEM bearing and bush if it's still in good condition. i'm afraid 160/70 has no clearance with swing arm. recommended size is 160/60/17 or 150/60/17 for rear. as for front, you can either use 120/70/17 or 120/60/17, and I don't see any problem if you intend to replace only rear rim and keep front rim as it is, only spoke design will look different, if you don't mind about it

Glad you finally got your rims (damage free). Post pics. I haven't been to lucky. Still haven't gotten mine. Andy gave me a tracking number but, it's really no help cuz when I trackt it, all it says is that it was shipped but, it doest tell me where it's currently at. Im starting to give up hope.

that's the downside of ship the package via sea mail, we don't even know when the package reach foreign soil. they only inform date of package shipped out. but not much choice for us as airmail service are much more expensive than the price of the wheels itself

Andy

I was wondering with the 4.5rim was the max 160/70R17 or was it 160/60R17?

I am looking into just changing out the rear tire only on my N300

how much of a difference would 160/70R17 be to 160/60R17?

thanks

I just got my Vrossi wheels yesterday. I ordered November 18, so exactly 11 weeks to my door.

I'm still waiting on a few little parts, have to decide what tires I want, and wait for some warmer weather, but hopefully they'll be on the EX500 before too long.

Hi Andy
I received an email from Graffiti Minimarts January 10, notifying me that the rims that where returned had arrived. I sent both of you multiple emails but have not received a reply. Just want to know what's going on. Did you receive them? If so, did you send them back?

I took my tires and the Vrossi wheels to the local dealer today to get them mounted. Unfortunately, the valve stems they had weren't anywhere close to fitting in the Vrossi wheels. The hole seems to be slightly smaller than stock and/or the wheel is a bit thicker there.

This sounds really stupid, but is there a certain part number or size valve stem to use?

Well, I think this is really odd case. Never heard about this issue before, and I have no idea if the valve stem has different sizes either... is there anyone here with some info about valve stem can explain?

This sounds really stupid, but is there a certain part number or size valve stem to use?
I think you may just have to make some minor modifications to get the standard valve stem to fit.

Pretty sure the dimensions of a cycle valve stem (possibly all valve stems) have been standardized for a while now.

Does anyone know where I can order these rims? Everyone seems to be out of stock.

This is what the dealer's stems looked like:
Quote:

Short "Pull in Place" rubber valve stems. Short Motorcycle style. Fits all standard and Japanese wheels 10mm. Will not fit European "Nut in place" 8mm style unless you enlarge the hole.
@willi777 (the other guy who put these on an EX500) mentioned there being different standards between "Japanese" and "European" wheels, and it looks like that item's description confirms that. These Vrossi wheels seem to use the smaller 8mm style (just barely bigger than the threaded part of the schrader valve). I think this particular dealer only sells Japanese bikes, so that might explain why they only have the 10mm/.453" stems on hand. Dealers with a larger variety might have both styles available.

Yup - there are 2 "standards". I was wrong on that...

I have 90 degree valve stems like these - https://www.google.com/#q=90+degree+...tbm=shop&spd=0

Some are the "Euro" size - 8.3mm

I have the other "standard" (Japanese) size - 11.3mm

I would just get the "Euro" ones from a local dealer that sells and services Euro bikes if you can.
