does anyone know if the older rims are compatible with the 09 model. I'm not familiar with how rims work on a bike. If I got the same size wheel (i.e. 17") from an older model would it work properly?

All rims from '08 - '11 should be interchangeable. '07 and earlier will not be.

How much are you offering? I'd have to know if it's worth getting the bend on mine straightened and shipped to you.

Not sure I understood exactly what you said, but is your wheel is bent and your offering to fix it and send to me? Because if that's the case I can just fix my bent wheel. But everyone I've spoken to has advised against that.

I see. The problem is usually finding a place that can or will do it. I live in the motorcycle capital of the USA and it's been a pain (searched a couple years). This particular rim was never involved in a crash and was never dented enough to cause a problem (held air, balanced, did not vibrate), so it's not the same as fixing a seriously damaged rim from a crash. It is a simple bend in the lip on one side caused by a pothole.

Fixed mine for $70. I know you said you didn't want a repaired rim but it was minor enough that it only took the guy 5 minutes to fix, though I had to drive over two hours away and got stuck there when he locked my stuff in the workshop (had to go to the ATM to pay). If you want it, cover the cost + shipping + $20.
