Thanks for the compliment! I used to really go really crazzzzy for knives.

Swiss Army knives are great! Very useful and people don't freak out when you are using one.

I stopped being a collector and became more of a user years ago. Sold most of my collection. I even used to have 3 Sebenzas, but only have the 1 user now. No shelf queens for me anymore.

I really like the Cybertool. Never got one, but always looked at them. The tools on it are great, you could work on a computer and not need any other tool.

The Cybertool was always on my wish list, but since I don't do as much IT type stuff anymore I never got one.

So far I like it. I mean you can't expect to put a lot of torque on something that is in such a small package. However, I use it frequently to change out power supplies at work. Keeps me from having to go fetch a flathead or phillips screwdriver out of the tool box that is located over 70yds away from where I am working.

People have stated that the quality is sub-par on these, but they never were made to take the abuse that a leatherman can. It is just for small stuff, small jobs. The blade has kept a good edge. I just use a Smith's pocket sharpener for blade maintenance.

Use it within its limits and it will last a long time.

I have a small non-descript Chinese made stainless folder that I think we found in a planter in a downtown area of all places. Its on a lanyard in my tank bag.

I always carry a Leatherman. The sometimes snide comments about "fanny pack" or "utility belt" stop when someone needs a tool, or fire, or...you get the idea.

And while it isn't a "pocket knife", when I go camping, I have an Ontario machete which can chop wood, dig holes, or whatever.

I've got these since a few years and haven't fount myself wanting anything else since.

- Glock Bayonet, available cheap and plentiful. I use this on Camping Trips etc, really useful, versatile and light. Used for everything including when I forgot to bring my fork & knife for the barbecue

- Unknown Leatherman I to as a Gift, really great as every-day Tool. Great selection of Tools and compact/light so it doesn't stick out in an Office environment. Very useful!

-SOG Flash, super-handy mini folding blade. Can be brought out super fast, do it job (Opening Packages ) and disappear again without a trace.

The flash is a great knife,
Lightweight, and the opening action is smooth.
The way it tucks in my pocket makes it hidden.

I really like that. That would be perfect for camping!

Right now I just use the Gerber BG Ultimate. I'd love something with an integrated saw as well.

I used to carry the darker color of this every day, until it got stolen when I left it in my fraternity house. It was a sad day.
Now I just carry a black 3" off brand knife. I bought it at a smoke shop in town, but I keep it sharp and it does the job.

I also bought a GREEN Victorinox Swiss Army Knife in Switzerland

Until recently always carried a 30 year old Swiss Army Huntsman Officer, rare & sought after now.
Favorite knife for my work has been a Trident kochmesser 36 cm which 30 years ago was 2 weeks salary.
My daily carry now includes a Leatherman Wave.

Thank you! I do make and sell them, but it's still just a hobby. I go through phases where I'll make a half dozen in a month, but then not even go in the shop for 2-3 months.

I see a few classic CASE knives. I always like those. The regular Trapper is one of my favorite knife designs. Good choices. I like your "knife style".

Thanks out of all of them I like the look of the trapper's best. Side question now that I live in az I am finding it hard to find the law in regards to open carry of a knife on my belt. In Colorado I always told the cop I was on my way to go fishing or something as that made it legal at that point to have on you

I got two more additions to my camping/survival pack. I grabbed a SOG Fasthawk. I like it because it is more versatile than a hatchet, yet still a tad lighter. I know weight helps, but when you are carrying it, weight does matter. I'll take a couple of extra swings to save some weight.

I also got a Camillus 13" Carnivore Z machete. I wanted a compact machete. Even when camping, a tiny machete can make jobs easier. Sure the SOG could be used, but that can be overkill for certain situations. I think in total I spent $50 on both.

Can't wait to try them out

Put my Gerber Clutch back in my survival/BOB kit. I picked up a Gerber Dime today. So far it is pretty nice. I've found a useful tool should I need something to use on the firesteel.

Definitely not a heavy duty use tool. But it works for a nice cheap tool to abuse. So far it seems rather robust. Got it mainly for campsite abuse more than anything.

Then you're an advanced gung-fu student, or crazy, or both. I have enough trouble with two sticks.

For those serious about nunchaku as something more than a party trick, get some heavy ones in white oak or some similar tough, dense wood (rosewood, etc. is overkill). When you start actually striking things with them you'll find out that they recoil in odd directions until you learn to pull back at the instant of impact to deaden the momentum and those made of light wood are harder to control in that regard. Otherwise it's teeth, knees and nutz time. A good teacher can show you that they're most useful as a "compliance tool" as the LEOs term it - you can put a bone-crushing wristlock on someone using almost no force when you know how. I mean quite literally bone crushing, too, the leverage you have is incredible especially with the octagonal cross-sectioned nunchakus so if you're going to experiment on your own without a skilled teacher to guide you please be very, very careful you don't break your toys (i.e., your friends. Make that ex-friends if you break them.)

CALLING ALL KNIFE GURUS!!!!

Looking for a 4 to 4-1/2" high carbon steel *>450 full tang fine edge fixed blade to keep in my pack, or keep on me full time. Any suggestions?

I saw a low dollar buck and a gerber that would possibly work (not full tang), but the blades are a bit short. Also, the spine has to be flat with a sharp 90* to fire off a firesteel with no issues. Any ideas?

Was also considering a Schrade SCHF9. That beauty runs under $50, which is awesome. That would strictly be a packed knife. Still, I'd love to have one! I love knives....much more than guns. hahaha

A possible contender for a SS blade would be the Gerber Ultra Compact Fixed Blade (only about $40)

I stole this from my roommate, until he took it back, and always thought it was badass. Until just a minute ago when I googled it and found out it's only $15 lol

I don't have one, but I like the looks of the ESEE knives. They have blades in 3, 4, 5, 6, 7" etc

I've got the 4 and the 6. The 6 is huge! Just a fun giant knife. The 4 is my favorite. I really like it.

The ESEE 4 meets almost all the requirements, but the back edge is not super sharp for fire steel since it has that bakelite textured coating. I'm sure you could do fire steel with it, but you'll definitely removing the black protective coat - we are talking about high carbon steel so I like the coating to survive. The blade edge can be taken care of pretty easily and touched up.

ESEE is coming out with stainless steel versions and also the high carbon versions without the black coating. The one without the black coating that's high carbon might be perfect for you.
