Owowow! That's a world of hurt I wouldn't even wish on a green! Glad you're doing better than your bike at least. Metal and plastic can be repaired, rebuilt or replaced.

how much do wrecks sell for?

here in indo hardly anyone has insurance on their biker or cars. we just fix up the bikes as best we can, unless its literally a crumbled piece of metal and plastic.

seems like the only thing left on that bike without serious damage might be the engine block, he he... good luck rebuilding her

It was $1500 Canadian, those pics are after I tried to put it all back together to the condition that I bought it in. IT really wasn't that bad...mostly busted plastic.

I got it home stripped it down to get a look at it, only to find out that the integrity shop needed to see it in the condition it was bought in (or have pics at least) so I slapped it back together (not bolted or screwed but slapped)

Should be a good project though

Ahhh, glad to hear it. Very interested to see how it turns out. Are you planning to go back towards stock (fairings, etc) or street fighter style?

It doesn't really surprise me that a guy who puts a "Hustler" decal on his bike puts it down.

Good like with the bike. Hope you didn't get "hustled".

In Manitoba the Insurance is Government owned and regulated, more often than not if you have a claim with your bike it is written off and the government has insurance auctions every week for the bikes/cars/quads/boats/trailers that were written off. There have been bikes that fell over at the auction with very little damage but those go for quite a bit

Yep doing it all myself. Today I replaced the Clutch and both throttle cables, I was going to do the choke one but it wasn't in that bad of shape, then I checked all the wiring and made sure it was in good shape and connected properly. I also put on the new exhaust header, new oil level glass and most of the body panels. Sat on it and played for a while couldn't help but start it up. It started up no problem only let it run for a couple seconds though, oil level was really low (old site glass was leaking really badly even though the glass wasn't cracked)

Someone who puts a sticker like that on their bike prob has a real need to "impress" people. Same kinda guy that will ride beyond their ability and get themself into trouble. IMHO......

That's pretty neat. Just that it starts up is cool to hear. Do you plan on doing any modifications while you're working on it?

It was the coolest thing, I almost let it run for longer but I am too responsible for that right now.....not only because of the low oil level but because of the muffler not being on yet....but ya I was happy sitting there on it with the engine going.

Was going to do some mods on it, but I'm not sure that I'm keeping it yet, life is happening again and while it was planned, not too sure if a bike is practical for this stage

Smile Good luck

Looks like you have your work cut out for you, but it sounds like it's going to be fun. Are you riding something else in the meantime?

Other than some friends bikes every so often, I'm not riding at all. This is the second bike I've owned and the first one was sold almost 12 years ago. having a real good time with this, might even pick up another insurance auction bike later on
