Downsides to missing title/bonded title?
I've tried searching the net and the forums and don't see any really good resources to describe the process to legally own a vehicle that is missing the title. Or vehicles with bonded titles.
Could someone explain the basics of whatever process is needed to be street legal when purchasing a bike without a title? It looks like the process to get a bonded title takes like 6 weeks. Does that mean you can't ride it or insure it till then? Assume the bike isn't stolen and the vin has been checked. Thanks. |

It varies widely from state to state. In some states it's a piece of cake, in others it's a much more involved process. I don't know anything about how Texas handles it, but you need to get some Texas-specific info for it to be useful.
