Ninja 400 dyno - Kawasaki lied !!!
Here's dyno chart of Ninja 400 vs 300.
Note: power measured at rear wheel Source: https://www.cycleworld.com/how-much-...ninja-400-make So crank power is closer to 50bhp, not the 45 that Kawi claimed!!! Cheaterz!!! Last futzed with by DannoXYZ; May 13th, 2019 at 04:27 PM. |

Nice curves, thanks. Dynamometers are notoriously inaccurate though, with calibrations varying wildly. Unless someone who really knew what he was doing recently calibrated it, it could easily be off by that 10 percent.
It's the comparison between the 300 and the 400 done on the same machine at nearly the same time that's most interesting. I rode a 300 a few days ago on the Dragon. Based on your curves I bet a 400 would be a different animal altogether. |

DynoJets have built-in weather stations that measure ambient temperature, humidity and altitude to make proper SAE corrections. But the nature of inertia dynos do tend to not be as accurate as steady-state eddy-current dyno.
The 300 graph does look slightly higher than others I've seen. Most significant though is with improvements in torque. HP's up +25%, however, torque is up +40% (which is really what accelerates)! |

The 300 chart looks like my 8k mile street 300 on a Factory Pro dyno.

I completely believe this. The EX500 was listed as 59hp, with numbers at the wheel in the low to mid 50s. The 400 feels only a bit slower to me (mostly in having more trouble trying to accelerate while in too high a gear). I'm sure the weight difference helps a bit too.
There are also apparently a number of tunes/setups used on the 400 for different countries' licensing regulations. I've seen something listing it as 48hp even. Just for comparison, here's the 500. As others have stated, it's not a 100% accurate comparison because it wasn't done on the same dyno at the same time, but it gives a point of reference. I'm still very happy with my purchase as a sidegrade from my 500. I'll occasionally feel like it doesn't have quite as much oomph (like I said, usually when I'm in the wrong gear - an easily remedied situation), but most of the time I'm thinking about how it's just as good as, or even better than, my modded 500. I can't wait to get some springs to match my weight (though they're much closer to correct than the 500's stock springs were).
