Don't underestimate yourself. You have a good video too.

Remember everything is ultimately paid for by the other guy's company. If you missed work because of the accident, then you have that claim, plus that also means that you were injured bad enough to have to stay home.

If the insurance doesn't offer a fair settlement, don't hesitate to talk to a lawyer.

Stick to your guns. Not worth getting short end of an accident as the one who got hit. Take as much as you can to cut your losses.

Thanks, I'll do my best. Honestly the toughest thing will be not breaking down in tears while stripping them off -- I'm a stupid melodramatic that way.

Okay, I have numbers for insurance. They are valuing the "salvage" at $1090. Do you think I could get more than that by parting her out? I have the carbs, engine with less than 4k on it, brand new AreaP Full System, Proton Flush Mounts, and the stock seats, and a rear wheel with almost new Sport Demon tires.

The overall value I'm getting (if I don't buy the salvage back) is $4400, which is basically $1000 less than I paid for a brand new 300 (but I still need to get the AreaP for it and such, so probably closer to 2.5k less after mods)

did they give you additional money for accessories or was it just the bike?
would try to get the exhaust back if possible, thats 300-400 alone.

i would buy it back, but then again i like wrenching on bikes.

Haha, probably not but I'm stuck in my hotel until this insurance business is completed (they need to pay for me to get Saturn to Nevada to get registered, until then I have no street legal vehicle within 300 miles) so Ninjette is a good place to pass the time

I could get a movement permit which would let me ride the bike to the DMV. Temp Tags would require a VIN Inspection at which point I might as well get permanent tags.

She's being stored in a friend's garage until I get the funds to rent a trailer to haul her back to Nevada for VIN Inspection.

I would be tempted to buy your old bike back and offer less. Sounds like this accident is really affecting your day to day life there. The whole ordeal seems insane with you being stuck at a hotel with no wheels. Don't be afraid to stand up for yourself and tell them what you want. Don't just accept their numbers.

That's an unfair offer from them. Buy it back for as cheap as possible, then part it out. You've got more than $1000 just in the carbs, engine, and exhaust system. Add in the wheels and suspension, and any other aftermarket parts, any good bodywork, and you've got an easy $2000.

I'm still offering to buy the headlight for cheap if it's broken.

Yes. Engine alone is worth $600-$1000. Gas tank with dings will get $300. Have a look on ebay and you'll see there is pretty much nothing on these bikes that doesn't get sold. Sometimes people part them out in the marketplace forum.

But the real question is, could you do that to Hotaru?

And then wouldn't get to personally say goodbye to every part of the bike as you sell things off.

Parting her out will be rough; I think I'm going to have Paul help me part it all out and deal with the details while he's here as much as possible
@alex.s would you be open to grabbing the engine in May/June? That's when Paul will be here and he can help me get her engine out and do the exchange so I don't have a mommy moment. Also, pm me what your offer is for it (or do it here publicly). She's in perfect shape, 3500 miles, babied
She may live on as part of @Momaru's bike too -- he's interested in a number of pieces himself.

You could think of her like an organ donor. That way she gets to live on in other people's bikes.

Yep, that's how I'm thinking of it. The fact Momaru is willing to put something not-blue on his Ninja in her honor is actually flattering (Seriously, he's OCD about his bike matching). She was a good bike, so her rebirth will make a lot of other good bikes.

I've never even been to the track yet, and I'm not sure how much money I'd have to put into making the bike track worthy -- at a minimum new forks and front wheel I suspect, plus the frame being bent.

Yep, thanks Yorchi, I still smart in a few places but I'm good. As I said earlier (I think), years of gymnastics combined with being 90 lbs. (Well, 105 -- stupid holiday weight is being stubborn).
