Ouch my budget! Stupid Ninja.
So I was doing a recent update of my financial records and decided to see how much I've spent on my bike recently. All I can say is OUCH!
Service: $250 Parts (Not Crash Related): $575 Crash Repairs+Gear Replacement: $3300 Tools: $340 This is NOT counting the actual labor cost on the bike repairs (will probably run $300 +/- for the things I wanted done). Yes I am getting insurance to cover most of the repairs, but that check hasn't come in yet so I'm needing to float the difference. All I can say is Ouch my budget! |

Wow what a n00b, I've spent way more than that, although with my accident I might be in the black now.
Anyway, luckily there are nerds like me who have created things to help you keep track of your expenditures. http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=90503

Motorcyclists are always in the red. With all the gear, farkles, and parts we go though, you never end up on top.

This is why you start on a used $1k-$2k bike. Save your money for Great gear, then spend the money on a nice bike when you know how to ride. It doesn't hurt as much when a used bike falls.

I never buy used anything (too many bad experiences), and my gear is solid -- if you want details on how I was hit you can check my crash thread. I'm mostly just whining. As I said, all the repairs are being covered by the other guy's insurance company, but it's a matter of the fact I won't be able to get home to get the check until after my bike is fixed (he hit me on my way to work, which is an out-of-state office)

Each of my bikes needs it's own set of gear... why? er, just 'cause.

Hrmf. My last bike (110cc scoot) netted me, after accounting for all expenses, and considering both fuel and parking savings, a positive $1100.
The Ninjette isn't saving as much because I can't park it in bike racks and 'cause it "only" gets 53mpg, not 101mpg, and I had to add an Alu-Rack and Coocase to match the Elite's built-in storage, but it's on its way to net profitability also. |

dont get me wrong i save a minimum of $250 in gas by riding the bike instead of using the truck.
the bike will pay itself off in about a year, even with all the farkles.

I'm in the "I've spent more on the bike in parts than the entire bike cost me" club, at least two times over
