These crazy moped people!!!

So, as most of you should know by now, Wisconsin and many other areas got hit by a pretty nasty snow storm last night. But, despite the ridiculous weather and the insane amount of snow on the roads and in parking lots, moped drivers still think they can fly around like its no one's business. I just don't understand this.

So compared with a sport bike, specifically a ninja 250:
Do moped's tires have that much more traction?
Is the weight ratio to their benefit?
Are they just crazy?

Are any of these the reasons why they can drive around in this weather, and I wouldn't dare bring my ninja out unless i was totally insane?

Crazy? agreed

I think its mainly due to the fact that scooters have small tires typically and you don't have to lean into your turns as much as a motorcycle.

This post really made me laugh. I used to be one of those guys... kind of.

When I was in school in Milwaukee 10 years ago I had a Honda Express moped without a muffler (very loud). I didn't have a car and used the moped all the time. Other people at the dorm were pretty jealous since no one really had cars there.

I would use it in the winter too. Even when it was all snow outside. I'd bundle up with 2 pairs of pants and snowpants, 3 jackets, scarf, face covering mask, hat, gloves, etc.

All you really have to do is stick your feet out like skis. Not having to shift is why they work better in the snow than motorcycles, which allows you to use your feet as skis. It was a blast!

Ahh in my younger years...

Thanks for the thread brought back some memories!

They don't really have more grip, just the feet thing really helps.

The reason for seeing people out on them still is lack of other transportation and youth driven vigor/insanity imo.

well it has bin a while since we watched this.

Link to original page on YouTube.

The reason the moped is so good in snow is it has no power and the rider dose not fear death. They ride a moped how much worse can it get. HAHA.just kidding

lmao.

I have a friend that rides a scooter all the time. I don't ride when its extremely cold, but the people that do ride all the time do it for the reason c-dog said.

moped riders feel as though getting geared up does not apply to them, why in the world would they think riding a moped in bad weather conditions wouldn't be wise? At least their stupidity is consistent!

I owned one the two summers I lived in Ocean City MD. Perfect for commuting to and from work / beach. I'd never ride it in the snow.

There's a guy here that has a honda ruccus (sp?) and rides it through town all the time. If I'm out on the bike with friends we will catch up to him and ride behind him.
