Christmas 2014!

Christmas is in the air! I bet teachers love the holiday more than the average adult. Being surrounded by excited kids and getting 2 weeks off certainly brings joy to my holiday every year!

What's on your X-mas list? What cool surprises do you have in store for your loved ones? Any fun traditions or plans to share?

Today is my first of 2 or 3 December baking days. It's rainy and I'm bikeless, so why not?

I want whirled peas an black bean burritos

I don't want anything for Christmas. I don't like Stuff not made in the US, or walmarts, and I have everything I want that the folks I know could afford.
I'd rather skip Christmas, an my birthday, but surely some folks will buy me more useless junk

Here's how I spent my rainy Saturday!

I've got a batch of chocolate crinkles in the oven too.

Ah, the time of year when I get to laugh at everyone else getting overly stressed.

My mom and stepdad just do Yule dinner and ask for no gifts. My dad and I gave up ages ago since we end up buying what we want when we want/need it. Example, I'm wearing my "Christmas" gift from him on every ride - he bought my helmet for me.

So the 25th is no different than the 24th or the 26th.

Now, if someone wants to get me a Christmas present, I'd love to nuke every music player / radio station pumping out the same five songs since Dec 1st.

I make my own crust, my dad bought me a marble board and rolling pin. It was a hint to make more after my first time.

I do like Christmas, I hate the hurry. We start our get togethers weeks before so we can spend time with everyone. I don't see my Mom anymore at Christmas so I am a little sad this time of year.
I see her in the riding season, she lives in TN. KY sucks to drive through in the winter.

Good thing Christmas is about giving, not getting!

How's everyone's Xmas going?

Santa was good to me this year! I checked off some hiking supplies from my shopping list! Best gift? The Universe threw an old companion back in my path.

Anyone get unique gifts? Encounter noteworthy experiences?

For me Christmas is not about gifts but seeing my folks since I live so far away from them.

Our family is not into the gift craze either. For us the gifts are for the kids and those truly in need. Most anything I want I either already have it or will get it myself. We enjoy spending quality time with family and friends. Baking goodies is fun and sharing them with family and friends is great. I think the great American philosopher Sheryl Crowe once said " Happiness isn't having what you want but rather wanting what you have." I think that hits the nail on the head.
